🤔Did someone offer to “scale your brand?”
👉🏽 But you don’t have a proven sample yet. You cannot scale what does not exist with proven results.
➡️ A founder I worked with had 27 products sampled in her first collection. She sold three units. She had been sold “scale” before anyone checked whether a single product was right.
Let me explain,
🚀 Scaling means ads, influencers, brand growth. That is for a brand with a product that is proven, priced properly, and that a factory can make at three hundred units without the quality falling apart. All of these processes need to be thoroughly controlled before scaling your brand.
➡️If you are pre-sample, every ££££ you spend on “scale” is a pound not spent on the only thing that makes you a brand: a perfect, quality-checked, priced-properly product someone can hold.
🫸🏽Do not scale a range before you have validated your products properly.
🙌🏽 Validation includes conversation with your potential customers. All conversations should focus on the product functionality, the fabric, the price, and writing down every issue with your product, if any, and tweaking those issues until you have a proven product that works perfectly for your target audience. Then, and only then, you are ready to scale.
👉🏽The order of scaling is
1. Product first.
2. Then ten honest conversations with real potential customers
3. Then the collection range that is quality-checked.
4. Then scale 🚀
So when someone says “sign up, and we will scale you”, ask them what they are scaling. If the answer is one or a set of samples that have never been tested with a focus group, walk away.
🚀 DM me “Sketch”; I will send you ✔️a complete plan of how to scale properly.
