🚨 *BLACK PARENTS* – *THIS IS A DIRECT ATTACK ON OUR FAMILIES*

David Lammy’s new *Youth Justice White Paper* is here 18/5/2026. It proposes giving courts the power to fine parents, or even send them to prison, if they fail to stop their child offending through expanded *Parenting Orders under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.*

They want to punish us more, while ignoring the system is already stacked against our children.

The Black Child Agenda sees this every day. This is the 'school-to-prison pipeline' in full effect.

🏛️ *They Over-Police & Over-Punish Our Children*

· ⛓️‍💥 *Black children are over 4 times more likely to be arrested than white children.*
· 🔍 *Black children are now almost eight times more likely to be strip-searched.*
· 🤨 *A Black child is still nine times more likely to be in youth custody.*
· *Nationally, over half of the under-18 prison population is from ethnic minorities,* *with 30% being Black. Where do they come from?* *77% of those Black children in prison had a suspension, and 14% had been permanently excluded* – *the school-to-prison pipeline in action.*

👧🏾 *The 'Adultification' Trap*

Black children are stripped of their innocence and seen as older, more threatening, and less vulnerable. *This is why they are stop and searched at a rate of 106* *per 1,000 compared to just 27 per 1,000 for white children.* *They are 37.2 percentage points more likely to be labelled a 'high reoffending risk'.* 🤨

📚 *Failed by the SEN System*

Black children are not getting the support they need. *Only 11.7% of Black pupils receive SEN support, compared to 15.4% of their white peers,* meaning many are *criminalised for behaviour rooted in unmet needs.* This is a breach of local authorities’ legal duty to identify and support SEN under the Children and Families Act 2014.

⚖️ *No Legal Aid – No Defence*

*The Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act (LASPO) has all but destroyed access to legal aid for families.* The number of agencies doing legal aid work has dropped *59%* and many of those firms refusing to take on the heavy workload of these cases for almost no pay.

“Dear mum,
It’s with a heavy heart that I write you this note, knowing the amount of pain it is going to cause you.

Mum, I want you to know that I love you dearly and will ever love you. If I am given the opportunity to live again I will still choose you as my mum and our family will still be my place of birth.

But unfortunately, I know that there is not going to be any such opportunity.

Mum, I didn’t want to do this, but I was compelled by circumstances beyond my control to take the plunge.

I tried my best to pull through, but my best was not good enough. I battled alone for about thirteen months now until my strength failed me.

You and dad could not decipher what I was going through and maybe I should not blame you for that.

My one and only brother came very close to understanding what I was passing through but it was too much for his young mind to comprehend.

Mum, I know that you and dad loved me and did everything you could to prove that to me but I was not feeling loved.

You provided for me more than I even wanted, took me to places that most of my mates have not even heard of, yet despite all these my heart was longing for love.
I needed someone who would love me for who I was. I needed someone who could reach to the depth of my soul and feel the vacuum there.

The material provisions you spoiled me with could not do that. And I was alone all the while, despite the fact that we laughed together and had gist as a family.
Then came the last straw that broke the camel’s back.

Your brother, Uncle Tony who came to live with us, made me to believe that he knew exactly what my soul was longing for – companionship.
He chose to stay with me when you and dad were too busy to notice my loneliness.

He tried to keep me company when I needed someone to talk to but had only gadgets and teddy bears as my company. I was fooled to trust him and he hacked into my foolishness. And he did it perfectly and deeply.
