I’m part of this initiative, set up by one of my APDO Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers colleagues, to offer free organising advice and support for anyone who needs help sorting out their spare room in order to host refugees from Ukraine.

More than 50 experts are volunteering with Spare Room Sorted, a project launched by Juliet Landau-Pope of JLP Coach, together with fellow members of APDO Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers and the Academy of Virtual Organising.

The new Homes for Ukraine scheme will enable people in the UK to open their homes to refugees. If you’re keen to become a host, you may be daunted by the need to clear and organise your home. That’s where Spare Room Sorted can help. Our experts are ready to share practical decluttering tips such as:

- How to break down a decluttering project into manageable tasks
- How to make most effective use of space and storage

Looking for a quick fix?

Don’t feel overwhelmed: start small and build up from there.

With this client there was some changing around of bedrooms required to create more space for a child’s clothes.

This wardrobe was perfect for the child as it was exactly the right height for him to be able to reach his day to say clothes and practice getting himself ready for school.

🧦 break each task down into manageable ‘chunks’

🧦 find a home for the items which were in the wardrobe and moving out; in this case bed linen which now lives with the towels

🧦 get everything out which needs to be put away and sort!

🧦 group items by type and discard any which no longer fit - move straight into the ‘giving away’ box

🧦 I chose to fold items here so that they were easily visible on the shelf to the child

🧦 jumpers and woolies at the top as we enter summer

🧦 school uniform in drawers so that the little boy can pull out what he needs easily during the week

🧦 winter coats and heavier jackets were moved to a hanging wardrobe where we carved out an area for these

🧦 as well as being easy to use, the client can now see exactly what he’s got and knows that he won’t need any more shorts or t shirts for a while!

Easy to maintain and saves time in the morning looking for things as you always know where they are!

The 🔐 really is ‘a place for everything and everything in its place’

It’s that time of year again!

I gave myself a day off to make this year’s birthday cake as it’s really important to my little one that the cake is made by me 😊

The theme this year was and I think it went down well as there was nothing left over!

Not quite up to your standard but the kids were happy 😃

Does anyone have anything from the below post that they could pass on to a good cause? 🙏

Here's this month's wish list. We also have an Amazon wish list and Common good wishlist for buying new items (links below) such as nappies, soap, etc which we always need.

In April we helped:
2 trafficked young mums with cigarette burns
A young family evicted with their 1 year old child
A family whose house burnt down
A mother with 2 children whose partner locked them out
3 pregnant mothers with nothing for their newborn babies
3 young mothers with kids who had no toys and hardly any clothes
4 children with no cots or beds and one year old baby still sleeping in a moses basket
2 mums struggling with twins and toddlers
13 women who were victims of domestic violence
2 single mothers with challenging health conditions and very young kids

Big thank you for the support you give and the love and care we are able to provide for these families.

Order envy, anyone?! 😉

It’s been a while since I posted as I’ve had an extremely busy week with new and existing clients, as well as dealing with the usual ‘life admin’ and being a parent!

So I’m taking the time to sit down on my own in silence to enjoy this delicious lunch, courtesy of one of my amazing new clients, who sent me home with this after a busy day this week. We got chatting about food and before I knew it, she had whipped up this potato curry with extra coriander as I’d mentioned that I love it and would eat it with everything given half the chance! 😊

Such a wonderfully kind gesture - I was so touched.

I am so lucky to have a job where I get to meet and work with the most amazing people! 🧡🧡🧡
