Seven communication challenges. One root cause. One framework that solves all of them. π―
Here is something I have observed consistently across every organisation I have worked with β in financial services, Private Equity, manufacturing, and high-tech companies.
Most workplace communication problems are not caused by people being difficult. They are not caused by poor intent, lack of professionalism, or personality clashes that are simply too deep to resolve.
They are caused by people being different β and not yet having the awareness or the language to navigate that difference constructively.
That is the root cause. And it is the root cause that Insights Discovery training addresses directly.
Here are the seven communication challenges I see most consistently β and how Insights Discovery helps resolve each one.
1. Meetings that frustrate everyone and satisfy no one.
Fiery Red attendees want decisions and pace. Cool Blue attendees want evidence and process. Sunshine Yellow attendees want discussion and human connection. Earth Green attendees want consensus and care. When all four are in the same meeting with no shared framework β the result is predictable. Frustration, disengagement, and a meeting that satisfies nobody. Insights Discovery gives teams the awareness to design and facilitate meetings that account for every energy in the room β and the shared language to do it without conflict.
2. Feedback that does not land β or is never given at all.
A Fiery Red manager giving direct, blunt feedback to an Earth Green team member is not giving feedback β they are creating anxiety. A Sunshine Yellow leader softening feedback so much that it loses its message entirely is not being kind β they are being unclear. Insights Discovery helps managers and leaders understand how each colour energy receives feedback most effectively β and adapt their delivery accordingly, without losing the substance of what needs to be said.
3. The same conflict that keeps resurfacing.
When two colleagues keep having the same argument β about pace versus detail, about process versus outcomes, about task versus relationship β the conflict is almost always a colour energy clash rather than a genuine disagreement about the issue at hand. Insights Discovery gives both parties the framework to recognise what is actually happening beneath the surface tension β and to find a resolution that neither dismisses nor bulldozes either perspective.
4. The leader whose style does not work for half the team.
Most leaders communicate naturally in their dominant colour energy β and unintentionally alienate or disengage team members whose colour energies are different. A Cool Blue leader who communicates through detailed written briefs is not serving their Sunshine Yellow team members who need conversation and connection first. Insights Discovery builds the communication agility that allows leaders to flex their natural style across all four colour energies β without losing authenticity or authority in the process.
5. Emails and messages that create more problems than they solve.
Written communication strips away the tonal cues that help people interpret intent β and colour energy differences in writing style create friction that compounds at scale in hybrid and remote environments. A Fiery Red's terse three-line email reads as rude to an Earth Green. A Sunshine Yellow's long, discursive message loses a Cool Blue entirely. Insights Discovery creates awareness of how each colour energy writes and reads β enabling teams to communicate more precisely and with far less unintended friction.
6. Change that is resisted, delayed, or quietly ignored.
Communicating change in a single style and expecting every team member to respond positively is one of the most common and most costly leadership mistakes. Fiery Red team members need the rationale and the outcome. Cool Blue team members need the evidence and the process. Earth Green team members need the human impact and the space to voice concerns. Sunshine Yellow team members need the vision and the energy. Insights Discovery equips leaders to communicate change in a way that genuinely reaches every member of the team.
7. The high performer whose communication style is limiting their career.
Some of the most technically capable people in any organisation are held back not by a lack of skill or knowledge β but by a communication style that is not working for the people they need to influence, manage, or impress. The Cool Blue expert who cannot communicate their insights in a way a Fiery Red board will act on. The Sunshine Yellow relationship-builder who loses credibility with Cool Blue colleagues. Insights Discovery gives high performers both the self-awareness to recognise where their style is creating friction β and the practical tools to flex beyond it.
The result of Insights Discovery communication training is not a team that communicates perfectly. It is a team that communicates honestly β with genuine mutual understanding β and that recovers from misunderstandings faster because it has a shared language for doing so.
That shared language is visible in every interaction from the day after the workshop onwards. And its value compounds with every conversation it shapes.
