Join us tomorrow at 11am CEST (Geneva, Switzerland) for an exciting introduction to Tent With A View’s Bush Rovers, a truly original style of safari camp providing a comfortable, eco-friendly way to closely observe the great migration in Tanzania.

Comprising 6 to 8 suites depending on location, built from reimagined Land Rovers, the camp relocates seasonally across the Serengeti ecosystem, tracking the rhythm of the herds, placing guests at the dramatic Mara River crossings (July to October) then down to the remote southern region of Kusini for the calvings (December to March) and to the lush plains of Grumeti (June to July).

In the session you will hear about:

- How the Bush Rovers provide a front row seat for the great migration as well as incredible game viewing outside this period, e.g. during calving
- Why this experience is once in a lifetime
- What profile of adventurous clients this experience is made for?

Today is World Ocean’s Day which reminds us that protecting our oceans starts with actions we take every day. In Watamu, Kenya there is an incredible team delivering essential practical and educational work at Local Ocean Conservation. Last summer, the children and I volunteered there and worked alongside Joey, Jonathan, Fikiri, Nicky, Jo, Gladys, Teresa, Lameck, Ishmael, Mohammed and Maitha as well as other international volunteers. Our time with the LOC team has left a lasting impression and our commitment to their work is ongoing through fundraising and raising awareness in our community in Geneva. If you’re interested in finding out more, search for Local Ocean Conservation and prepare to fall in love!!!

Mida Creek is one of those rare places that feel suspended between the land and the sea. Here the water shifts with the rhythm of the ocean, weaving through dense mangrove forests that shelter birdlife, juvenile fish and an entire ecosystem thriving just beneath the surface. At low tide, sandbanks appear like temporary islands and at high tide everything softens and disappears into the water. It is best experience slowly, by canoe or paddle board to experience the creek alive with Kingfishers, crabs, flamingos and turtles.

Deep in Kenya’s Laikipia landscape lies one of the most serene primate rescue centres in Africa, the chimpanzee sanctuary at Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

It is home to rescued and orphan chimpanzees, saved from illegal wildlife trade, conflict situations or unsuitable captivity. The gorgeous setting affords quiet and consistent rehabilitation work every day. It is not so experience, it is a conservation commitment in action.

When you visit Ol Pejeta, take time to visit this part of the reserve.

Today is International Day of Families and I want to use the chance to remind all my friends that your kids DO still want to go on holiday with you, even when they are teens! Involve them in the research, sign them up to volunteer, go somewhere that takes you out of your comfort zone…it will bring you all closer and allow you to create incredible memories. What are you waiting for?

Today I add my tribute to the man who will receive so many as he celebrates his centenary. Sir David has inspired millions in his quiet, intellectual style and will continue to do so for years. This photo is particularly pertinent as it shows Sir David at Ol Pejeta in Laikipia, Kenya where I volunteered last year. When I worked there I shadowed the rangers and vets who each recalled warm anecdotes about the time spent with Sir David. The connection is made even more special thanks to my cousin Adam White having been at OP with Sir David, creating the documentary together. Adam worked with Sir David at the BBC for 20 years and gave me the confidence to choose to volunteer at OP and not somewhere else. To quote my cousin “when storytelling connects people with the natural world in a meaningful way, and is built in genuine collaboration, it has the power to create real engagement and lasting impact.”

Obsessed with experiencing the Great Migration but want to avoid the crowds of tourists lining the river banks?

Did you know you can wake up in the northern Serengeti, fully immersed in the centre of all the activity thanks to a fleet of modified Land Rovers?

Called Bush Rovers, these comfortable suites made from the car and canvas, are strategically positioned along the herds’ path in 3 different locations, ensuring that your view of the Serengeti Plains and all that inhabit them is out of this world!

Ask your travel agent to build this experience into your Tanzania itinerary for your front row seat!

I adore the story of the Belalp Hexe in this month where skiers from all over the Valais region are invited to participate in a downhill race called “the Witch’s descent.”

“Racers zip down a 12-kilometer course from Hohstock to Blatten, while amateur participants take it at their own pace. Dressed as witches with green faces, pointy hats and brooms, they stop along the way to sip on cherry schnapps—vom Hegdorn’s favorite drink—and eventually cross the finish line.”

Created by the Belalp Ski Club in 1983 this downhill event pays homage to 15th century farmer Sepp vom Hegdorn who was unhappily married to a recluse, later charged with his murder and burned at the stake.
