Some information regarding medication and the heat in your vehicles.
Drivers across the UK are being urged to remove a certain item from their cars before the middle of the week as temperatures are forecast to reach 30C and higher. The country is currently entering its fifth widespread heatwave of the year this week, with the hot weather expected to peak across Wednesday and Thursday.
What common types of medication are sensitive to heat?
Insulin. Loses structural stability and chemical potency very quickly, rendering it ineffective for blood sugar control.

Adrenaline auto-injectors. Heat breaks down the epinephrine inside, compromising emergency delivery during severe allergic reactions.

Metered-Dose inhalers. Pressurised canisters can malfunction, leak propellants, or burst under extreme cabin temperatures.

Nitroglycerin tablets. The active compound evaporates rapidly in high heat, leading to total treatment failure for angina.

Liquid medications and suspensions. High temperatures cause phase separation, altering concentration and destroying active chemical properties.

Just because a medicine looks normal doesn't mean it's fine if it has been stored in heat. It could actually be less effective than it should be. If you have any questions or concerns, speak to your GP or pharmacist.

It’s always rewarding to receive positive feedback following a training course.

This recent feedback was received following a Physical Intervention course, with the client rating the overall training Excellent.

They also rated the course Excellent for its emphasis on de-escalation and alternatives to restraint, relevance to their role, risk reduction and safety, and the usefulness of the knowledge provided.

As a trainer and experienced self-defence and security consultant, my aim is not simply to teach physical techniques. Good training should give people the confidence, awareness and communication skills to recognise risk, de-escalate situations and, wherever possible, prevent incidents from becoming physical.

It was particularly pleasing to see “All of the techniques” identified as the most beneficial area of the course.

Thank you for the feedback.

Good afternoon,
Over the past few years, as an experienced Self-Defence and Security Consultant and trainer, I have delivered Personal Safety and Breakaway Training courses to a wide range of professionals and private clients across the UK, with opportunities now extending internationally.
This area of training has become increasingly important as the need for personal safety skills continues to grow—not only for professionals in the workplace but also for individuals and families in their own homes.
I deliver training at a variety of levels, tailored to the needs of each client. Drawing on many years of operational and training experience as a Self-Defence and Security Consultant, my courses are suitable for organisations within the private care sector, the NHS, local authorities, education, corporate businesses, and security professionals, right through to Close Protection Operatives and government agencies.
Training can be delivered at client premises, workplaces, community venues, or private residences, and can be adapted for different age groups, including young people. Some programmes have been specifically developed for teenagers, combining practical breakaway techniques with Street First Aid skills to help build confidence, awareness, and personal safety in today's world.
Over the coming days, I'll be sharing more detailed information about these courses. In the meantime, here are just a few examples that may benefit your employees, colleagues, or family members:
Lunch & Learn Personal Safety Sessions – Short, practical workplace awareness sessions, particularly popular with organisations across London.
CitizenAID® Awareness with Breakaway Training – A nationally recognised, three-year certificated first aid qualification, combined with a separate practical breakaway and personal safety session.
QA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) – A nationally recognised three-year certificated qualification suitable for a wide range of workplaces.
Personal Safety and Breakaway Training – Tailored programmes for lone workers, healthcare staff, carers, housing officers, security personnel, schools, colleges, and private individuals.
More information will follow shortly.
If you would like to discuss how these courses could benefit your organisation, employees, or family, please feel free to contact me for further details.

Good Morning,
Following the success of delivering bespoke training programmes at prestigious commercial venues, private residences, and high-profile establishments, I am pleased to introduce a new course specifically designed for young people.
This unique programme combines an Ofqual-regulated, certificated First Aid qualification with practical Personal Safety and Breakaway Training, helping participants develop both emergency response skills and personal safety awareness.
The First Aid element covers:
✔️ Casualties who are not breathing
✔️ Severe bleeding and haemorrhage control
✔️ Tourniquet and Tourni-Key application
✔️ Unresponsive casualties
✔️ Fractures and broken bones
✔️ Thermal and chemical (acid) burns
✔️ Environmental emergencies
✔️ MIST casualty handover procedures
To support ongoing learning, participants also receive access to a mobile phone app and a pocket reference guide, ensuring key information is always readily available when needed.
The Personal Safety and Breakaway element is designed to provide practical techniques that can help young people create time and space to escape from potentially unsafe situations. The training is reinforced with communication, conflict management, and de-escalation strategies, helping participants recognise and avoid situations before they become physical.
This course provides valuable life skills, increases confidence, and promotes personal safety awareness in today's challenging environment.
For further information or to discuss delivery options, please contact me directly.
