Several countries around the world have now adopted the ‘Right to Disconnect’ to ensure employees can detach from work outside of their normal working hours. So, what are the rules?
• The right of an employee to not have to routinely perform work outside their normal working hours.
• The right not to be penalised for refusing to attend to work matters outside of normal working hours.
• The duty to respect another person’s right to disconnect (e.g. by not routinely emailing or calling outside normal working hours).

Employees feel more valued, and are more likely to work harder, when you invest in training and development. So, what can you do to help your employees grow?

When onboarding new hires, you could include a list of free courses they could take or recommend some books for reading that will help them in their new role, learn more about the industry or develop new skills.

For shared learning, introduce staff discussion meetings where the team can meet, brainstorm, and come up with ideas or solutions for the business.

Arrange and attend seminars and workshops with your employees. You can find free or cheap ones to attend, providing a day out with your team and giving you the opportunity to learn at the same time.
