We’ve officially retired our AMPLIFY audit - here’s why (and what’s next)

After 16 years in business and hundreds of operations audits, I’ve realised something important:

When you followed popular opinion and hired a Virtual Assistant (VA), it was because you had reached a level of busy that was becoming challenging to keep on top of.

You wanted an ‘extra-pair of hands’ to pick up some of the slack, so you could get back to being zoned in on your expertise, impacting your clients and industry with your skills and enjoying the work you gave up employment to focus on.

It seemed like a great idea, at first. But, it quickly became exhausting as you realised you’d inherited a team member that looked to you for tasks to complete and that needed managing.

You felt frustrated because you didn’t have the capacity to manage another person, that’s why you hired them in the first place.

Boundaries slipping? Reclaim your control and capacity.

Somehow, your primary focus in your business has become serving your clients.

Other integral business activity - sales, marketing, business development and operations - have progressively been relegated to a mystical time known as ‘later’.

It wasn’t a problem. At first.

At the end of the day, your clients are high priority, right?

So being available at all times of the day (sometimes, night), responding to their emails in single-digit minutes, over-extending yourself to cater to their needs has become second nature.

After-all, they pay for your services and the business relies on client revenue to remain profitable.

But, couple that with general day-to-day activity, being active on social media and jumping on ‘pick-your-brain’ calls, your business has somehow become one rooted in reactivity.

None of it feels like a big deal, in the moment.

But, taking a moment to recognise how little capacity you have to work on your brand, nurture new relationships, or to attract new business. That’s a problem.

To look at your pipeline and see how few leads or opportunities you have right now? That’s a problem.

To consider that the life-span of your clients only lasts as long as the container your services place them in, before you have to start again from scratch? That’s a problem.

You’re in a capacity deficit.

That’s the problem.

The solution?

The solution is, you need to reclaim control of your capacity and get more intentional with your time.

You need that time and capacity, to develop your offerings, to build relationships and to shape your business in a way that better serves you as the owner and chief service provider. Small tweaks can have a huge impact.
