Sarah De Sadeleer became part of the BLCC team in February as part of her International Business degree at Karel de Grote-Hogeschool, which requires students to gain real-world experience through a three-month placement. She has already made a great impact by assisting us at the Eurostart Venture Awards, and we’re excited to see all she accomplishes during her time with us!

We were thrilled to share that Michel Vanhoonacker, BLCC Chairman, had the tremendous pleasure and honour of being invited by Wouter Maenhaut, CEO and Founder of Fanfinity, a longstanding BLCC Member, to experience the world's largest Pokémon event, The Pokémon Company International Championships Europe, held at Excel in London.

The event covers an astounding 30,000 square meters, and as the logistical event organiser, Fanfinity employed over 1,000 temporary staff to bring this incredible competition to life. Nine London hotels accommodated the team, and key partners like Citymesh provided the temporary IT network, making the event a true feat of coordination.

Sold out within half an hour, this mega event welcomed tens of thousands of Pokémon fans from around the world. Michel Vanhoonacker extends his sincere respect to Wouter and his team for their professionalism, friendliness, and exceptional level of service, creating a memorable experience for all attendees.

The second edition of the Eurostart Venture Awards was a huge success! With an impressive lineup of finalists pitching their innovative startups, the event showcased the incredible talent emerging from universities. Hosted at the Belgian Ambassador’s residence, we were honoured to welcome both the Belgian Ambassador, H.E. Jeroen Cooreman, and the Luxembourg Ambassador, H.E. Georges Friden, who showed their support for the next generation of entrepreneurs.

A huge thank you to Umberto Giuseppe Carriero for creating and leading this new event, and to Isobel Dannatt for planning and executing the event so seamlessly.

BLCC Chairman Michel Vanhoonacker had the privilege of attending the annual University of Cambridge Belgian Black-Tie Dinner.

The evening began with an exclusive student-guided tour of Cambridge. This rare tour offered a glimpse into the rich history and stunning architecture of the grounds. Highlights included the Wren Library, designed by Christopher Wren (the architect of St. Paul’s Cathedral) and the King’s College Chapel, home to paintings by renowned Flemish artist Rubens.

Michel then joined fellow guests for the prestigious black-tie dinner, where he was delighted to welcome HE Ambassador Jeroen Cooreman, Belgian Ambassador to the UK. A truly special evening celebrating heritage, connections, and excellence!
