Carefully Sorted

Carefully Sorted Carefully Sorted is a London-based service dedicated to helping you organise and de-clutter your home, your office, your possessions and your collections.

Founded by Liz Aitken and Julia Durand, Carefully Sorted is a London-based service dedicated to helping you organise and de-clutter your home, your office, your possessions and your collections. We are non-judgemental and practical and will work at your pace so that the careful sorting we undertake together has lasting benefits. Carefully Sorted grew out of our separate experience of helping frien

ds and family tidy and sort their homes and businesses. We have also helped people downsize, prepare for a move and get their homes ready for selling or renting. We also have first-hand experience of sorting out our parents’ possessions when they died so we know how difficult it can be to decide what to keep and what to dispose of and are particularly aware of the sensitivities that follow bereavement. We have experience of sorting and de-cluttering in every part of the home or small business:

• Bedrooms and playrooms
• Spare bedrooms (which are often unloved)
• Kitchens and utility rooms
• Living rooms
• Bathrooms
• Garages, conservatories and sheds
• Home offices, studies and craft rooms
• Small businesses, including stock rooms

and have worked on a wide range of items:

• Clothes, shoes and handbags
• Books, CDs, DVDs, records and sheet music
• Toys
• Photographs
• Collectables, including advice on displaying them
• Paperwork, including setting up filing systems
• Craft materials

If you think we could help you, please get in touch and we will contact you to discuss the scope of your project and our fees.

This is an excellent question!

Having a sort out will give you back valuable space in your wardrobe and cupboards. Donating clothes you no longer wear to your local charity shop will raise much-needed money for good causes.

That's what I call a win-win situation.

On Day Two of APDO Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers's Spring Clearing Week, we introduce the concept of a Legacy of Meaning.

This is a topic which particularly interests me because I am the family archiver, and am currently sorting out the photographs I've inherited from at least three generations. I am loving it!

Read the blog below to learn more.

Do get in touch with APDO Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers if you are interested in being a professional organiser because we offer excellent training. You can also get in touch if you think working with a professional organiser would help you manage your own organising projects.

Legacy - what does that mean to you?

When we hear the word legacy, we often think of wealth or inheritance - but leaving a legacy is about so much more.

It’s about the stories we tell, the values we pass down and the way we make life easier for those we love.

It’s about ensuring that when we’re no longer here, our presence is still felt in meaningful ways.

We would love to hear your thoughts on todays blog (link below) - Leaving more than memories.

Delighted to share this post from APDO Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers - because today is Day One of Spring Clearing Week, one of our popular campaign weeks. Our theme this year is The Lifecycle of our Homes.

REad more about it here - https://www.apdo.co.uk/resource/blog-250318-lifecycle-of-our-homes.html

There is a new blog every day this week - we hope you enjoy them and are inspired by the content.

Welcome to Spring Clearing Week 2025 🙌

We are kicking off with the life cycle of our homes, as they are organic and change according to our differing needs.

Life takes place and people and circumstances change and so our home adapts with us, thus creating its history and memories.

These changes can be influenced by a variety of factors, including family dynamics and financial factors, as well as lifestyle choices.

Each home started its journey when it was built, and the people who live in that house all play a part in its life cycle

Do you ever wonder what treasures you might have hiding in plain sight in your home? And when I say 'treasurers' I mean things with emotional as well as monetary value.

Several of my clients have been overjoyed to find precious memorabilia they thought they had lost forever; some have achieved good prices selling unwanted items. All have benefited from creating emotional and physical space and finding themselves more at home in their home.

Auctioneer Daniel Pearce found the book on a pile of items ready to be thrown away.

Great bit of international coverage for APDO Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers during our campaign NOW: National Organising Week. Our theme this year is ‘Back to Basics’ and it has certainly resonated with this journalist.

After years of extreme cleaning, even the peak body for professional organisers in the UK is saying sometimes you CAN be a little too organised.
