I love watching the bond between these two grow. The big gummy grin Reuben gives Jan in the morning is pure sunshine 😄.

Was presented with this memory from 5 years ago this morning - the earliest days of Indi Skoven Prints! This was at the Stourhead National Trust fair. I’d loaded up the car and two lovely aunts drove me into Somerset from London so I could showcase my work for one of the first times. So great to look back on because I can see how far my little stationery brand has come from this point! The last year has definitely been the best yet with launching the current designs at Top Drawer and working with so many lovely stockists, many creators and curators of beautiful merchandise in their own businesses. It’s definitely hard work building your own brand from the ground up and doing it solo (with many ups and downs!) but I’m looking forward the next 5 years! This photo makes me excited for what Indi Skoven will look like then... maybe I’ll manage to break into fabric pattern design which, from a creative perspective, is my dream. I’d love to design a range of prints inspired by having my little son Reuben... on verra!

I painted these shortly before Reuben was born as postpartum affirmations. Will definitely be carrying them into the next three months (where did those first three go?!). Thought I’d share this little selection pf illustrations for other new mums out there too. Sometimes it’s good to have a reminder that we’re all doing really well - motherhood is a rollercoaster and the most intense version of every feeling! I think I thrive personally on having community with other new parents and also the physical/mental space to figure out the amazing and full on marathon of parenthood day by day. Every time I chat to a new mum, I’m struck again by how amazing women are 🙌🏻. Keep doing you, mamas 💕. You’re phenomenal.

Happy two year anniversary my love! I feel as wonderful and at peace about marrying you today as I did on our wedding day. I came across a beautiful poem recently and one of the lines said something like ‘the best wedding photo we never had is the fulfilment of a vow’. We’re only babies when it comes to living out those powerful and life giving vows but on the other side of this first two years, I already see that you are the real deal 🙌🏻. As devoted and present and selfless on the hard days as well as the easy ones. I’m inspired every week by your character and will be thrilled if our little boy grows up to be just like you 🤍. Here’s to year 3 of walking through life together and building our marriage brick by brick!

Introducing Roo to grass (before the wellie days are upon us!) and autumnal treasures. Something I looked forward a lot about having a tiny tot was rediscovering the world through his eyes and I can’t wait for when he begins finding these things himself and coming to show me. As long as it’s not a decapitated worm, then the enthusiasm might fade momentarily 🙃

Too hot outside so now everyone - including our sun worshipping whippet - is hiding under the duvet to protect from the icy air con blast. My new mum brain is not playing it cool (jk) and can’t decide whether heatstroke or pneumonia is the bigger risk at the moment so I’m eagle eyeing the thermostat and checking baby’s back every 5 minutes for the temperature. Ada is outraged that we keep switching on the evil machine (to maintain the, by her standards, arctic conditions of 24 degrees). Thankful for my part though for a cool corner to dwell in with the beb although all lower limbs have gone numb from sitting in the same position whilst he nurses around the clock and pretty sure my spine will stop talking to me soon. 🤪 On the upside, there are mango ice lollies in the freezer and time to share this random postpartum stream of consciousness. (Ahoy out there to other new parents 👋🏻). Alternatively, the comparative albeit brief dive into the annals of American vs. British legal TV dramas that nobody asked for. We are inhaling them whilst feeding-trapped.... BBC’s Silk 9/10: gritty and often quite hardhitting, appealing shots of the windy lanes around the Temple chambers although the series is populated by the usual grizzly Dickensian cliches and mildly dim ex public schoolboys. Luckily saved by the main female barrister. The Good Wife 7.5/10: it’s American so the good guys must always win and therefore the outcome is pretty predictable but on the upside it’s not as unbearably slick as I expected it to be. Characters feel 3D (although how would I know really, not my world). Suits 1/10: barely made it the end of the first two episodes. Oilslick in a suit. Way too yewk for this wry Brit.
Any others we should be watching? Nothing redeems the first (of many) nightfeeds like a good showfest.

Looking through our lovely marriage celebration photos and I’m struck again by the gift of friendship and how precious it is to have people walk so faithfully alongside you throughout the years. These women are each so unique and so important to me. For belly laughs and hard times, for sedimentary layers of questionable memories of teenage years and figuring out our 20 something life fundamentals (I suspect that will continue throughout life!), for praying over marriages and careers and ambitions and relationships and life changes. Something I think is rather magical about friendship is how they can emerge (sometimes p**f out of nowhere, others that grow slowly and deepen over time, some that stretch like elastic over different cities and countries and time apart) in any season of life. These gorgeous lasses go all the way back to school days where I was so fortunate to have a bunch of loving, smart, funny and kooky friends to accompany each other through the potential perils of teenagehood (they’ve remained exactly that over our 20s!). But I know that every life chapter is filled with the potential for wonderful new friends to add to the old precious ones - so if you didn’t meet your kindred spirits already, I definitely believe they’re still out there to be discovered as you rumble on through life! 💕
As we start to turn 30 from this autumn, I can’t wait for the next decade of life with my nearest n’dearest and I’m also excited for new friendships to bloom. ✨(Last pic from beb’s shower in June because can’t miss out ! 🤍)

Granny Anne 🤍 Every July 18th that passes is another year without you and now this funny old month has taken on yet another life changing significance with the arrival of our precious son. I figure it’s always going to be an emotionally charged time of year! Thinking today especially of what this year with the arrival of your grandbabies Arthur and Reuben would have meant to you and how much you would have loved them. We all know that you would be the most wonderful and gentle, loving grandmother. It’s so sad to me that my and boys are missing your presence as they grow up. But, as always, we carry you around with us wherever we go in heart and mind and lean on all the love you poured into us over the years to pour back into our little ones. So thankful too to be on this adventure of parenthood alongside my wonderful Jan and I know that would bring you so much joy 💕.
I also love this photo of when you snuck Pimms into Germany so I could have my favourite summery drink when living in Berlin 🍓🥒🍊
