Last week I was testing some flats when I noticed the plug next to the fridge freezers plug was held together with sellotape. Whilst it wasn't attached to one of the landlords appliances and therefore not the landlords responsibility I couldn't leave it unchecked and possibly dangerous.
After I'd tested the fridge freezer I inspected the plug to find that not only was the plug top broken but the live and neutral wires were wired incorrectly and there was evidence of overheating.
I couldn't leave it in a dangerous state like that so replaced the plug with a nice new one.
The result is a potential fire averted.
One safe and happy tenant.
One happy landlord and my conscience clear.
