🔊 BS8233 vs BS4142: what’s the difference?

When it comes to noise assessments, the type of survey you need depends on your project and the source of the noise.

BS8233 is usually used for residential developments and looks at noise affecting future occupants, for example, from nearby roads, railways, or airports.

BS4142 is usually used to assess noise from commercial or industrial sources, such as plant equipment, extract systems, or business activity and how it may affect nearby properties.

Getting the right assessment early can help avoid planning delays, extra costs, and redesign later on.

We recently returned from Leroy Street, a Hill Group development where eight modular homes have been delivered to Southwark Council as part of the incredible Foundation 200 initiative.

Launched by The Hill Group to help tackle homelessness, Foundation 200 is a commitment to design, construct and donate 200 high-quality modular homes to homeless charities and local authorities. These homes are purposefully designed to provide safe, sustainable and comfortable accommodation for those who need it most.

We're honoured to have been asked to support the project by carrying out air tightness testing on the homes, helping to ensure they perform efficiently and provide comfortable living environments for their future residents.

It's always rewarding to work on projects that make a genuine difference to people's lives and we're proud to play a small part in helping deliver homes that offer security, dignity and a place to call home.

A huge well done to everyone involved in bringing this important project to life.
