A little reminder for all the mums out there today…

Between the school runs, work, family, appointments, endless to-do lists and making sure everyone else is OK, it can be easy to put yourself at the bottom of the list.

You don’t always have to be the one holding everything together. It’s OK to ask for help, take a little time for yourself or admit that today you feel like you’re struggling.

This World Mental Health Day, we’re sending a little love to all the mums doing their best, often while juggling more than anyone sees.

Don’t forget to look after you, too 🫶

There was a time when finding a job might have simply meant finding a job you wanted.

Then came children and suddenly there’s the school run, childcare, school holidays, appointments, assemblies you really don’t want to miss and a whole lot more to think about.

But that doesn’t mean your career has to take a back seat. It might just need to look a little different. A term-time role, three days instead of five, hybrid working, a completely new career or a job you didn’t even know existed.

It’s National Work Life Week and we want to celebrate the fact that there isn’t just one way to have a successful career.

When you think of working in education, what jobs spring to mind? Teacher? Teaching Assistant? 👀

There are hundreds of roles in schools, colleges and other education settings, including flexible and term-time opportunities that you may never have thought to search for.

We’re starting the week on a bit of a high! 👏

After an incredible weekend watching Jane take to the TEDxBromley stage, we’ll be celebrating a very special moment for Jane and Successful Mums.. and then it’s straight into another busy week!

We’re welcoming Harris Federation and NEST online to meet our mums, sharing real insight into their organisations, career opportunities and the different roles our learners could explore.

Dee will also be hosting the final session of our first Wellbeing course of the new term, giving us another lovely reason to celebrate our learners and everything they’ve achieved 🙌

Behind the scenes, our Marketing Team is busy planning upcoming events and new ways to reach even more mums across London, Kent and Essex. Keep an eye out for some exciting events coming soon!

From supporting mums back to work… to the TEDx Bromley stage.

This Saturday, our founder Jane Knight will be taking to the stage at TEDx Bromley and it feels like a rather special moment.

For the past 12 years, Jane and the Successful Mums team have supported more than 12,000 women to recognise what they have to offer after becoming a mum.

Because time away from work doesn’t take away your experience. Working around a family doesn’t make you less ambitious. And starting again, at 30, 40, 50 or beyond - doesn’t mean starting from scratch.

We’ve seen mums return after years away, completely change careers, find jobs they didn’t know existed, start businesses, gain qualifications and perhaps most importantly, start believing in themselves again.

That’s a message Jane has championed since Successful Mums began in 2014 and this weekend, she gets to take her ideas to the TEDx stage.

From one mum with an idea to a community of more than 12,000 women.

We couldn’t be more excited to see where that red dot takes her next.

Sometimes the experience that shapes your next career doesn’t come from a workplace.

After nearly 20 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Jeanette took an eight-year career break to raise her children.

During that time, supporting her son with ASD gave her a growing interest in SEND - and eventually opened the door to a completely new career.

Jeanette came to Successful Mums to regain her confidence, update her skills and develop her knowledge of SEND.

After more than 10 years without an interview, she secured three interviews in just two weeks.. and was offered all three jobs. 🙌

Jeanette chose a full-time, term-time role as a SEND Job Coach at Bromley College.
