As President, I am very proud of our Board of Directors of one of the newest Chapters of the International Association of Fire Investigators (IAAI at www.firearson.com), the Central European Association of Fire Investigators (CE-AFI at www.ce-afi.com) Chapter #81.

We started the Chapter just before covid and worked hard through those difficult years to keep communications and support to our members going. We have now built up to just under 100 members, to include fire investigators from across Europe and beyond, who are all full IAAI members.

In just over a week, we will be hosting (at the time of writing) about 40 delegates from 11 different countries, all attending our 1st in person conference in Milan, Italy. I will be stepping down as President and handing the role over to Andreas Melinato from Italy. (https://ce-afi.com/conferences-and-training-events/)

FIUK’s management Systems have again been successfully assessed against the requirements of ISO9001:2015.

The assessment report recorded:

“From the assessed evidence the indications are that the management system continues to meet its aims

and objectives in achieving Fire Investigations (UK) LLP Company strategic direction to develop &

improve operational practices.

From the visit and subsequent management interview it was evident that the site management were

aware of and developing the overall business commitment and strategy in relation to the intended

outcomes.”

We've expanded to the United Kingdom!

Through our partnership with Fire Investigations UK LLP , AGI will be expanding operations globally, starting with the sharing of knowledge, skills and training with our partners.

We're gleaming with pride 😊🔥

In our tenth year of trading we have been successfully re-certified to ISO 9001:2015.

This was awarded following an audit in line with UKAS and IAF requirements.

The assessment was held remotely due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but our fantastic team were able to demonstrate full compliance of every area of the standard in relation to Quality Management Systems.

Well done to everyone involved and thank you to all our wonderful partners and clients for continued support.

It was a pleasure to deliver a two hour presentation to our friends and fire investigation community in Chile last evening. Almost 70 attendees on the Zoom call while I discussed the Kings Cross fire of 1987 where 31 people lost their lives, including Station Officer Townsley. I explained the extensive forensic fire investigation and public inquiry that followed and the hypotheses considered as to why the fire developed so quickly. The ‘trench effect’ was also explained and I discussed how it was a new phenomena within the fire science community at that time and allowed the fire to develop incredibly fast within the escalator structure and up into the ticket hall.
