Congrats to our Music Supervisors .re.lee and for being invited to teach at the Royal College Of Music yesterday! 👏
They held a "Working with Music Supervisors" class as part of the College's Composition Masters course. The aspiring composers were also given a task that mimics a real life composition job on an advert. Good luck to them all, looking forward to hearing the submissions! 🎼

Roses are red, violets are blue.. happy Valentine’s Day from The Soho Group! 💐
We went around the office and asked people to write down the best romantic lyrics 💌 If in doubt, dedicate thee to your sweetheart - because when words fail, music speaks!

Throwback to the Bubblophone!

Soho Music composed this big band jazz track for one of Aero’s most exciting campaigns to date 🎺

The ‘Bubblaphone’ contraception was built by its agency JWT to represent how bubbles are formed in the chocolate bar.

The Bubblophone is, essentially, a gramophone plugged into a pool of delicious melted chocolate.

J Walter Thompson, chose to physically build the Bubblephone invention rather than create the effects in post. The final machine comprised 10 precisely timed mechanical actions and 177 sequenced valves.

Impressive! 🍫

Track: Madness - “It Must Be Love”

Team Soho recently licensed Madness as part of Walker’s new campaign after their crisps were momentarily absent from UK supermarket shelves due to shortages.

“It Must Be Love” was written by Labi Siffre, whose original version reached #14 in the UK in 1971. 🎵

Madness recorded their own Ska version, released in 1981 which was recorded in nine hours in a front room studio in a house in Dagenham, Essex. 🇬🇧

"We had the strings play pizzicato: 'plink, plink, plink,' which at that time required real musicians. It was quite an experiment and you took a lot of responsibility because you had to pay the bill. Now you can just use a sample. A few years later Trevor Horn told me that he nicked the pizzicato strings idea from us for the first ABC record - that was quite flattering really."

“It Must Be Love” hit number 4 in the UK singles chart and was then re released in 1992 peaking at number 6!
