In 2020 at Axxelate we planned a series of networking cycle rides which, of course, never happened due to the pandemic. We're resurrecting the idea, so why don't you join us for a spin round some of the UK's delightful countryside with chat and coffee, etc

All welcome - the first is Friday 21st April in Essex, see below for details. I'm also happy to provide a gpx/tcx ahead of time , The rides will be easy paced with a focus on riding together on quiet roads. Feel free to invite others.

This video was initially put together earlier this year as part of our series on the application of sports science at work. The aim was to recognise value, understand the differences & shortcomings. Recently a good friend called to suggest I listen to Michael Lewis's 'Against the Rules' podcast - https://atrpodcast.com/ The 2nd series is about coaching and how it facilitates unfairness in society.

In business most coaching is focused on 'leaders', based on seniority, in team sport coaching is for the whole team.

My observations of coaching across firms in the last 20 years is that it tends to reinforce legacy structures & working practices. This when we need change to thrive in the face of rapid change & disrutption.

There are pockets of excellence and we need to learn from them.
I firmly believe good coaching is a key method in adaptation and development in the context of the purpose of the team or organisation.

Acknowledgement to Dan Abrahams and his guest who provided the story about Dutch hockey. I don't get to listen to many podcasts but Dan's Sports Psych Show is definitiely worth listening to https://lnkd.in/dBdjW-B

We are designed to deal with stress, it's an important element in performance. However, with stress comes the need for recovery and that's something we often skimp on.

We often focus on stress but often it's not so much too much stress that hampers our performance by insufficient recovery
