I’m very good at telling other people they don’t have to do everything themselves. 😂

Taking my own advice? That's sometimes a different matter!

One thing running my own business has taught me is just how easy it is to think, “I'll just do that myself.”

Sometimes that's absolutely fine.

But sometimes we hold onto things because we're used to doing them, because explaining them to somebody else feels like more effort, or simply because asking for help doesn't come naturally.

I've definitely learnt that being independent doesn't have to mean doing absolutely everything on your own.

Whether it's in business or everyday life, sometimes accepting a helping hand gives you the space to concentrate on what really needs you.

AI can help you work faster. But what if the information it’s working with is a mess? 🤖

There’s a lot of conversation about AI and what it could mean for businesses, but the figures show it’s already becoming part of everyday working life.

According to the latest Office for National Statistics research, the proportion of UK businesses with 10 or more employees reporting the use of at least one AI technology has risen from around 12% in late 2023 to around 35% in June 2026.

And one of the most common reasons businesses are using AI?

Improving business operations.

The British Business Bank’s 2026 SME Finance Survey also found that, among SMEs already using or planning to use AI, 22% were already using it for process automation and a further 32% planned to introduce it within the next two years.

And research from Enterprise Nation, in partnership with Sage, found that 53% of the UK SMEs surveyed believed stronger AI skills would improve quality, consistency and speed within their business.

I think there’s an important point amongst all of this.

AI can be an incredibly useful tool, and I use it within my own business too.

But technology still needs good foundations.

If your CRM is out of date, customer information is missing, files are difficult to find, follow-ups haven't been recorded or your data is inconsistent, introducing another piece of technology isn't necessarily going to fix the underlying problem.

AI can help us work smarter, but good organisation, accurate information and human judgement still matter.

That’s where good business support comes in.

Chasing unpaid invoices is one of those jobs that needs doing, but it doesn't necessarily need to be done by you. 💷

It's always lovely to receive feedback like this and know that the support I'm providing is making a difference.

Credit control can easily slip down the list when you're busy running your business. But those outstanding invoices still need following up, and they can have a real impact on your cash flow.

It’s funny how life can throw something completely unexpected at you.

I've recently been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnoea, something I didn't even realise I had.

Last night was my first night sleeping with a CPAP machine, which is definitely going to take a little getting used to!

It feels strange knowing that something had been happening every night while I was asleep and I was completely unaware of it.

Sometimes life changes in ways you weren't expecting and you just have to learn, adapt and find your new normal.

I'm interested to know whether anyone else has ever had something discovered completely unexpectedly that meant making a change to their everyday life.

And if you're a fellow CPAP user, I'd love to hear how you found those first few nights!

When did you last check what’s actually sitting in your CRM? 👀

A CRM can be a brilliant tool for your business, but only if the information in it is accurate and up to date.

Old contact details. Leads that were never followed up. Notes that haven't been added. Opportunities sitting in the wrong stage. Tasks that should have been actioned weeks ago.

Before long, the system that's supposed to keep you organised can actually make things harder.

Keeping your CRM updated means you can see where things stand, what needs following up and, importantly, who might otherwise slip through the cracks.

Be honest... how much is still on your to-do list? 👀

It's Friday.

The week has flown by.

Some jobs have been ticked off.

Others have quietly found their way onto next week's list.

Running a business means there's always another email to answer.

Another invoice to send.

Another customer enquiry.

Another piece of admin waiting for your attention.

You don't have to do absolutely everything yourself.
