We are a wine importer specialising in minimal intervention wines from Austria and its neighbouring countries. We work with a new generation of producers dedicated to making terroir-driven wines from indigenous varieties. Our winemakers work organically and biodynamically, preferring to spend their time in the vineyards rather than the cellar. Above all, we look for wines that are honest, distinct

ive and delicious. In 2016 we opened a shop / wine bar in Dalston where we have over 250 European wines available to take away or drink in. Our by the glass selection changes daily, depending on what we feel like pouring and what you feel like drinking.

LE GRAPPIN x MORCHELLA

BAR TAKEOVER

Next week Thursday we welcome back Andrew and Emma Nielsen — husband and wife duo behind the wonderful — Le Grappin — domaine from Burgundy.

For the occasion Juste and the whole team at Morchella are filling up the cellar with their latest releases from 2022 including the astonishing Bourgogne Aligoté and their Côte d’Or Rouge as well as a highlight selection of their parcels from Vezelay, Hautes Côtes de Beaune and their iconic whites and reds from Savigny-lès-Beaune.

The kitchen will be sharing their seasonal Mediterranean plates all evening long at the bar to pair with the wines — just the kind of combination to celebrate the arrival of peak summer!

In the heart of the Combe de Savoie valley along the Isère river lies the serenely beautiful Domaine de Chevillard.

Behind the Chevillard domaine are Mathieu Goury and Guillemette Renard who joined Mathieu a few years ago.

It’s not an easy decision to commit to ageing your wines before you release them, but the two have stuck by their vision from the beginning. Their whites such as their ‘Rousette de Savoie’, ‘Apremont Jacquère’ and ‘Mondeuse Blanche’ age for at least two years while their Mondeuse ‘St Jean de la Porte’ and ‘La Mort’ cuvées can be in the cellar for up to four years, allowing the potential to truly express the vintage as soon as they land with us.

It’s not very often that a winery shows such talent and deep understanding from the very start and each year we continue to be astonished by the detail and delicate power found in their wines.

NEW ARRIVALS - Émilien Feneuil

Émilien Feneuil has been one of Champagne’s most fascinating characters over the past few years. It’s no surprise that before he decided to take his own path in creating his winery his grapes were vinified as ‘prestige cuvées’ by some of Champagnes most celebrated organic domaines. Émilien is one of the few producers promoting a completely new way of agro-forestry and regenerative farming in the Montagne de Reims. His focus on rejuvenating the land has led to wild growing trees populating among his rows of vineyards, which provide natural shade while contributing to better soil health.

After working for many years together, it is always a magical exchange when we visit him. His wines carry calmness and depth — they are still and sparkling wines that require time and attention. The new 2018s are singing right now and feel like an open and playful vintage.

NEW ARRIVALS - Thomas Perseval

With these much awaited new releases, Thomas Perseval’s focus on the pure essence of Chamery hasn’t changed. The lineup is a perfect mirror of his work towards high quality farming and amazing grape quality.

This year, we are thrilled to introduce a new cuvée called ‘ArtTerre’, which focuses on the multi-layered picture of the Premier Cru Chamery from 2020.

Alongside we are also offering a minuscule quantity of his single parcel expressions such as ‘La Pucelle’, ‘La Masure’, ‘Le Village’ from a variety of vintages that Thomas feels are now at the perfect stage.

FRIENDS IN WINE — 24/05/24

Next week we are heading out to Austria with our team to join the fantastic festival by our friend .

Marko and his team have come a long way and when he reached out and asked us if we would be happy to organise a satellite event in Vienna leading up to the days at VieVinum (another fantastic fair in the heart of Vienna with many of our growers in attendance) we couldn’t resist.

Together with — one of Austria’s best importers out there! — we invited 8 growers from the fair as well as 3 guest winemakers from the Newcomer family further afield.

For the occasion we are also excited to share that we will be hosted by our family and friends — a new and beautiful all-day breakfast — lunch — coffee spot 2 minutes away from Wien Mitte that focuses on rescued, organically farmed produce and high quality coffee.

Ewald Tscheppe is a winemaker that carries the magic of his vineyards with him. It’s not only the breathtaking steep slopes but also the unbelievable biodiversity that surround the famed Ex Vero I, Il and III.

Even when he visits us in the city, his gentle soul and reflective presence brings about a certain peacefulness that reminds us to slow down and smell the spring flowers. Ewald and his family have come a long way since their humble beginnings at Werlitsch more than 20 years ago.

It is a huge pleasure to annonce one of our biggest highlights of 2024 as we celebrate 10 Years of Newcomer Wines in London.

MONDAY, 17 JUNE 2024 — 10AM to 6PM

BLAU is a celebration of the incredible variety of Blaufränkisch. Its capability of a true translator of soil, climate, region and Pannonian culture makes it one of the world’s most distinctive varieties.

BLAU will be Newcomer Wines’ most comprehensive showcase of this variety to date —inviting a large majority todays most important growers. Among them wineries that have led the way for this unique variety in the past and are shaping the market for a future generation of growers eager to follow their footsteps.

Christoph and Julia Wachter are the sister brother duo behind some of Austria’s most respected single-vineyard Blaufränkisch. But to us, it is much more what makes them so special. To them, growing alongside their community of friends and winemaker peers in the region, sharing knowledge on organic farming and always taking time to sit down for a glass or two with their neighbors and friends takes priority. They are a testament for community bond and collaborative spirit.

We cannot wait to welcome them to The New Old World 2022 — on Monday 31 October and Tuesday 1 November @180.studios

Kolònia 52 is the brainchild of two of the most impressive talents we have come across in recent years. Annamaria Torok and Attila Francisti come from a wealth of experience, having worked with some of the leading lights of biodynamic farming like Gernot and Heike Heinrich, as well as Stephanie and Edi Tscheppe of Gut Oggau. Even before dedicating their time to learning alongside these influential names, their thirst for travel and an unstoppable curiosity to discover wines from near and far allowed them to immerse themselves in this particular style, and shape their personal intuition for farming and winemaking that really stands apart from many fellow peers in their young careers.

The two have now found a tiny cellar and home in the hills of Szent György-hegy, a sub-part of the Lake Balaton region in the Western parts of Hungary where they grow their own grapes of Furmint, Kekfrankos as well as small parcels of Pinot Noir alongside other local varieties.

The geology on the former volcano hill is shaped by the prevailing basalt soils which yield linear wines with great tension. Annamaria and Attila were also fortunate to work with friends in the region to purchase a little bit of fruit for their 2021 vintage, which allowed them to experiment and try out a variety of techniques and styles for their first release of wines. For their domaine wines, they have been lucky enough to get their hands on 600L used white wine barrels from Benoît Doussot of Champagne Clandestin — winds of fate that shows their great dedication to detail and ambition in the years to come.
