ACID (Anti Copying in Design) is a membership trade organisation for designers and manufacturers.

ACID has over 20 years experience of supporting its Members intellectual property Rights. We help to educate individuals and companies on how to develop an intellectual property strategy to discourage others copying and also provide an accessible, practical framework for those who believe that their Intellectual Property (IP) rights have been infringed. By maintaining a high profile at exhibitions

and trade shows, reinforced by the powerful ACID brand of protection, the organisation also functions as a strong deterrent, on-the-spot advice centre and mediation service. ACID’s objectives are:

To change the current culture that some think it's OK to steal ideas and free ride on another person’s design equity. To create a safer trading environment in order for creative industries to flourish via education, design protection, prevention and deterrence underpinned by support, both at grass roots and through expert IP legal advisors, IP legal and membership hotlines. The ACID brand has become a powerful voice within the design community, a voice the organisation intends to be heard across boardrooms where directors would be appalled if anyone accused them of theft of their colleague’s watch or wallet but still think it is acceptable to steal ideas and products. ACID is a full member of the Alliance Against IP Theft, a unique coalition of trade enforcement organisations providing a single voice for those who share an interest in preventing intellectual property theft in the UK. ACID is also a member of the All Party Group on Design & Innovation and an associate member of the British Confederation of Furniture.

🎓 Design students: your sketchbook is one of your most valuable IP assets.

Every sketch, annotation, prototype and design iteration creates a record of your creative process. While a sketchbook doesn't create intellectual property rights, it may become valuable evidence if you ever need to demonstrate how and when your work was developed.

Good sketchbooks can help:

✏️ Record the evolution of your ideas from concept to final design.

📅 Build a chronological record of your creative process.

💡 Document experimentation, design decisions and problem-solving.

📸 Support other evidence such as CAD files, photographs, emails and prototypes.
