At BalticNOG 2026, Technical Product Manager Andrejs Tihanovs will draw on 12 months of DDoS data observed across RETN’s network to examine how the threat is evolving.

For network operators, ISPs and telcos, looking at attack size alone can give a misleading picture of risk. A 24.9 Tbps attack observed in November 2025 was almost nine times larger than any other monthly peak in the dataset. But peak bandwidth alone doesn’t tell the full story.

Andrejs will explore how smaller, distributed and targeted attacks - including carpet-bombing and precision attacks - can create significant disruption without generating record-breaking traffic volumes.

RETN provides Netdirekt with 100 Gbps IP Transit service in Istanbul, with burstable capacity, strengthening its international connectivity while restoring a multi-provider network architecture and enabling Netdirekt to distribute traffic across multiple connectivity providers.

Netdirekt needed to strengthen the international connectivity supporting its Istanbul infrastructure, with a provider capable of delivering the redundancy and load-balancing capabilities required.
