Behind the scenes.

The Royal Albert Hall undergoes essential maintenance twice a year to ensure its long-term stability and smooth operation. This work includes tasks such as installing electrical meters to gain a clearer understanding of lighting, rigging, and audio loads across different types of performances. The Hall’s commitment to preserving its historic legacy while sharing the arts with the world is reflected in the care and attention devoted to maintaining this iconic venue. During this period, the Hall remains a hive of activity, focused on ensuring it can continue to deliver exceptional experiences for many years to come.

The roof houses motorised pulleys with a combined lifting capacity of 111.5 tonnes, used for stage rigging & lighting: This is where Gallowglass crews come in to assist the RAH team.

It’s an unusual workspace and probably unlike any other we work in. There are fluted aluminium panels behind the acoustic ‘mushrooms’ that help manage heat as temperatures under the roof can often exceed 38° in the summer & it remains one of London’s most remarkable architectural features.

The XXIII Commonwealth Games will be hosted in Glasgow, marking the city’s return 12 years after the hugely successful 2014 Games. Gallowglass will have local crew across several venues within an eight-mile corridor of the city: it will take place from 23 July to 2 August, featuring 10 sports, six fully integrated Para sports, and 3,000 athletes from 74 nations.

Glasgow CWG 2026 is building a lighter and leaner Games, utilising the infrastructure and expertise of Glasgow 2014 and more recent major events that have been hosted in Glasgow and Scotland.

This streamlined event will take place entirely within the city boundaries, creating an intense and immersive atmosphere. It will be an inspiration for future hosts around the Commonwealth in its sustainability and attainability. Glasgow 2026 will host some of the world’s best athletes, competing in world-class venues, in front of packed crowds and delivered in a financially sustainable way which will create a blueprint for the future of the Commonwealth Games.

We are proud of our heritage across the country: Our longstanding commitment has been to support local venues, employing local people - a goal we've consistently met since opening our doors 30 years ago!

With less than 100 days to the Games the countdown has begun…

Now that the dust has settled on what was a thrilling finale and season, Gallowglass Event Crew are privileged to support Gladiators once again as the show returned for its third season.

Working alongside the wider production team, our crew are proud to be involved in delivering another series of this iconic programme. From build and rehearsals through to live shows and derig, projects like this highlight the experience, teamwork and commitment our crews bring to every production.

A huge well done to everyone involved, both on and off camera. We’re always grateful to our dedicated crew, Mark Osborne and Craig Greaves at CSG Events Ltd for continuing to trust us on a project of this scale and energy.

Helping young adults with little to no experience find a path into the events industry starts with building confidence and transferable skills. Fresh into their careers, many do not realise that qualities like communication, teamwork, and reliability are just as valuable as technical expertise.

All new crew go through a comprehensive induction before being allowed to start a shift; they will also complete a level 1 H&S Passport (SPA Live Events), a practical, hands-on way in understanding and ensuring compliance with health & safety standards.

As training progresses, participants can specialise in areas such as sounds, lighting, AV, rigging or production, depending on their interests; they also have the option to expand their skillset with some additional training & licenses. This could be plant training; forklift, scissor lift, cherry picker, etc. and for the Crew Chiefs there is the opportunity to take a higher-level qualification such as SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme); allowing them to act as site managers and supervisors.

Mentorship is also key—connecting young people with industry professionals helps them plan their career progression and build networks.

Ultimately, the goal is not just to teach technical & real-world skills but to inspire ambition with a definitive career path. With the right guidance and opportunities, young adults can go from having no clear direction into confident individuals ready to build meaningful, long-term careers in the events industry.
