✈️💀 A ground vehicle accidentally struck the winglet of a Ryanair Boeing 737, damaging the outer section of the wing. CRASH DETAILS 🔞⚠️‼️
On November 23, 1996, Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961, a Boeing 767-200ER en route from Addis Ababa to Abidjan via Nairobi, was hijacked by three Ethiopian men seeking political asylum. Despite the captain’s repeated warnings that the aircraft did not carry enough fuel to reach their demanded destination of Australia, the hijackers refused to allow a refueling stop, causing the jet to suffer total fuel exhaustion and dual-engine flameout near the Comoro Islands. While the pilots attempted a ditching in shallow waters off Le Galawa Beach, the left engine and wingtip violently struck the water, causing the aircraft to cartwheel and break apart upon impact. Out of the 175 occupants on board (163 passengers and 12 crew members), 125 people—including all three hijackers—perished, while 50 survivors, including both cockpit crew members, were pulled from the wreckage with injuries by nearby tourists, resort staff, and local residents.
