Happy news! - XeroE awarded cargo bike grant for Brighton launch in Q1 2023

We’ve just had some fantastic news about a match funding grant we’ve been awarded to help fund the first two cargo bikes for our Brighton launch in Q1 2023.

The award from Locase that covers Kent, Sussex and Hampshire is given to businesses which can demonstrate that a new project or area of operations can deliver significant social and environmental benefits. Each of our Urban Arrow bikes will take thousands of polluting van journeys off the streets of Brighton and Hove every year, helping improve air quality and easing congestion.

The city has a very eco-conscious population, a Green led council and the UK’s only Green Party of England and Wales MP in Caroline Lucas. We believe there’s considerable appetite for decarbonising transport which will only increase as the capabilities of cargo bikes for commercial freight become more widely understood.

The cargo bikes will be supported by electric vehicles for heavier loads or longer distances. Brighton & Hove City Council are very supportive of emission-free logistics and we look forward to working with their transport team.

Amazing discs for your bike that purify the air as you ride along!

Tapping’s design was the winner in the Design Innovation in Plastics awards and the Design educates awards 2021, and the industrial designer and associate lecturer at London South Bank University has won or placed in 13 further design competitions. The product’s in development, patent pending & expected to reach the market in Q3 2023.

The discs attach to the front wheel of a bicycle and use the movement of the cyclist to actively purify the air. Currently being trialled by bike share services & cycle logistics firms, we’re excited to receive our branded discs imminently.

Urban pollution is among the foremost public health issues of the day. We hope that widespread adoption will make a huge impact on air quality & we’re delighted to help promote Kristen’s work to create a healthier environment for us all.

Happy to announce that Mission Kitchen is a brand new client for whom we delivered hampers of delicious goodies around London last week emission-free. It’s a pioneering shared workspace for the emerging talent in London’s independent food scene and their members have flexible access to commercial kitchens, creative co-working space, events and expert business support.

They now support more than a hundred food entrepreneurs, several of whom we’re already in discussions with about their deliveries. Both Mission Kitchen and their members have a commendable focus on sustainability, are keen to decarbonise their logistics requirements in London as far as possible and XeroE’s multimodal courier service allows us to pick exactly the right transport mode for each job.

3 boxes of brownies are small enough to go in a backpack of a bicycle rider, lunch for 60 fits easily on a cargo bike, catering for twice that number better suits an electric vehicle. It's always a pleasure to find clients who are disrupting their sectors for the better and whose values are very much aligned with our own. We very much look forward to helping them reduce the environmental impact of their distribution.

Two new significant contract wins!

This week we signed two new contracts providing XeroE with fresh routes to market.

The first was with Evermile : https://www.evermile.io/

Evermile target smaller high street retail outlets enabling ship from store on a next day or same day basis. We are pleased to have been involved in discussions with them on their UK market entry for the last year and are one of the first delivery partners to be integrated into their platform. They anticipate XeroE sales of £40k per month from mid January 2023.

Nash, www.usenash.com are a San Francisco based company operating in 19,000 cities and have now launched in the UK. We have integrated into their platform and our first deliveries through them are booked in for next week.

Working with partners like these enables us to add additional clients and volumes with no cost of acquisition and no effect on gross margins.

Restaurants, pharmacies, grocery stores, and more use Nash to connect to hundreds of on-demand fleets and track all deliveries in one place.

We're excited to announce the appointment of Richard Corbett to our advisory board.

Richard comes with a wealth of experience building companies across last mile delivery, micro-mobility and the tech sector. Over recent years, he headed up growth at Europe’s leading micro-mobility company - Voi. A key protagonist in the legalization of electric scooters in the UK, Richard is well known for taking the industry by storm, leading Voi from a standing start to winning 60% market share - winning 21 exclusive city licenses, building a team of 200+ people and generating over $30 million revenue.
Richard is known for disrupting new markets with new technology. In 2010, he launched his own tech company, Eyetease, which created the first digital rooftop advertising technology for taxis and first wifi system for public transport.
Over the past decade, Richard has built extensive experience in transit, tech, media and Smart Cities. He's considered one of the most influential entrepreneurs and business leaders within this space: ranked in Europe's 10 people transforming consumer technology (Business Insider, 2020), the UK's top 100 tech leaders (Business Insider, 2019), top 100 UK Business leaders (Sunday Times, 2018) and top 60 tech leaders in London (Evening Standard, 2016).

Xeroe’s multimodal approach to urban logistics, using bikes, cargo bikes and electric vehicles allows us to choose the most efficient mode of transport for getting parcels from A to B and our investment in proprietary tech and customer service systems ensures reliable, hassle-free delivery for all our clients.

Our 2021 impact report showed our deliveries saving emissions equivalent to the carbon sequestration of 112 acres of forest or the burning of 46 tonnes of coal. When we achieved B Corp accreditation, we did so as the highest scoring business among courier services globally.
