EBFCI’s Director General (EU & Global), Salim Sharif, and Bangladesh Country Director, Mohammad Ali, along with EBFCI Bangladesh Region Director, Nipa Jannat, met with His Excellency Mr. Paulo Fernando Dias Feres, Ambassador of Brazil to Bangladesh, in Dhaka on 7th May 2026.
The discussion focused on opportunities in agro-tech, the RMG sector, tariffs, and the process of identifying local business partners in Brazil—particularly in São Paulo, which His Excellency strongly recommended as the country’s leading business hub.
His Excellency also expressed keen interest in the agro-tech project of CredoSense Inc., supported by the Government of Canada and the University of Toronto, which is being led by EBFCI’s Canada (Toronto-based) Country Head, Mr. Tanvir Chowdhury.
The meeting highlighted the importance of strengthening Bangladesh–Brazil trade and business relations while exploring future collaboration opportunities in technology, investment, and sustainable development initiatives.

EBFCI’s Director General, Salim Sharif, and Bangladesh Country Director, Mohammad Ali, met with Mr. Alberto Giovanetti, Counsellor and Head of Political, Economic and Communication Affairs at the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, on 7th May 2026 to discuss potential collaboration between the Embassy of Switzerland and the Switzerland–Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting focused on opportunities in agro-tech, skill development initiatives, and promoting Bangladesh to Switzerland-based SMEs and various supply chains to foster stronger engagement and business cooperation with Bangladesh.

During the discussion, EBFCI reaffirmed its commitment to extending collaboration and the embassy has also expressed its strong interest in further strengthening these ties for future mutual development and strategic partnership opportunities.

The Europe Bangladesh Federation of Commerce and Industry (EBFCI) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport by IHG on 9th May 2026.
Under the agreement, EBFCI members and officials will enjoy exclusive privileges at Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport by IHG, including preferential rates on accommodation, banqueting, dining, and access to various hotel facilities and services.

The signing ceremony took place at Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport and was attended by distinguished representatives from both organizations. The MoU was formally signed by Mr. Mohammad Ali, Country Director of EBFCI Bangladesh Region, and Mr. Ashwani Nayar, Area General Manager, IHG South West Asia & Cluster General Manager, Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport by IHG, in the presence of Mr. Salim Sharif, Director General of EBFCI (EU & Global), alongside EBFCI Directors Mr. Salauddin Chowdhury and Mrs. Misha Chowdhury, as well as other senior directors and officials from EBFCI and IHG.

***EBFCI Bangladesh Country Head Mohammad Ali on Short EU Visit***

EBFCI’s Bangladesh Country Head, Mr. Mohammad Ali, is currently on a short official visit to the European Union, covering Italy and Switzerland.

During his visit to Italy, Mr. Ali had the honour of meeting His Excellency A. T. M. Rokebul Haque, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Italy, at the Bangladesh Embassy in Rome. He also met Mr. Md. Al Amin, Economic Counsellor, at the Embassy.

The meetings involved fruitful discussions on business cooperation and economic development initiatives, with particular emphasis on promoting Bangladeshi products and services in EU and Italian marketsthrough collaboration with Italian and Non-Resident Bangladeshi (NRB) business leaders.

As part of his Italy visit, Mr. Ali is also scheduled to meet NRB business leaders in Italy before proceeding to Switzerland for the next leg of his EU engagements.
