"Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return."

Today, our community mourns the loss of a great mentor, educator, and leader, Mr Ahmed Badri. He spent his life in service to others—championing education, unity, and cultural pride.

The Visit Sudan team will deeply miss his invaluable guidance, wisdom, and advice. He was a true bridge between nations and a pillar for the Sudanese community abroad. We pray that Almighty Allah grants him the highest place in Jannah and grants his family patience and strength during this time of grief. He will be profoundly missed, but his incredible legacy will never be forgotten.

Our deepest condolences to the Sudanese community, the Sudan Volunteer Programme (SVP) network, and everyone who had the honour of working alongside Mr Ahmed Badri.

This video dates back to **1926**, when the **historic Sennar Dam in Sudan** was inaugurated in 1926.

It became the **first dam in the country** and the **oldest reservoir in Sudan**. It was built to provide **irrigation water for the Gezira Project** and to **generate electricity**. The reservoir is located on the **Blue Nile**, about **300 km from Khartoum**.

A video from **exactly one hundred years ago**.

The governor who inaugurated the Sennar Dam was the **Governor-General of Sudan, Sir Geoffrey Arthur Archer.

Wall painting from the Cathedral of Faras, northern Sudan (Christian Nubian period, 8th–14th century). A reminder of Sudan’s Christian and cultural history.

Sudan’s heritage and people face destruction, we recognize the role of the British Museum in preserving irreplaceable cultural heritage
for future generations.

Stand with Sudan. pray for peace and for the protection of civilians and heritage.

With best wishes for a peaceful and blessed Christmas.
