After over a month of isolating at home, juggling work and home life and all the challenges that lockdown brings, the LR Shanghai team needed a little light relief, and a chance to socialise. What better than an online talent show?
This May Public Holiday, colleagues and their families got together via a group video meeting to socialise, relax and entertain each other with their hidden talents. More than 70 LR colleagues and their families came together to share their talents, with a range of shows for all to enjoy… a great singer, an amazing dancer, a fantastic piano player, a colleague’s daughter performing tunes on an “erhu” (the traditional Chinese two-stringed bowed instrument) and let’s not forget the many cute and talented children!
The talent show was the idea of the China Management team, led by Dr. Xue Maogen, and was organised by Rachel Qian, Business Support Specialist, and Washington Wang, Deputy OSH Manager. Aside from the entertainment value, it was an important way to be connected and share human experiences after over a month in lockdown.
Rachel said: “A month in lockdown takes its toll on everyone’s spirits and their mental health, and we wanted to create an opportunity for people to get together, socialise informally and also to have some fun. It was a really enjoyable event – we were so pleased how many of the team, and their talented kids, got involved.”
She added: “It also provided an ideal opportunity for Dr Xue, our area manager for China, to present long service Awards to two colleagues, CH Bae and Luna Yu, who have both worked at LR for 20 years – congratulations to them both! We are really looking forward to seeing friends and colleagues in the office again soon.”
