Confidence doesn’t come from having all the answers: it comes from taking small steps forward.

Many athletes are used to being experts in their environment. Transition can mean stepping into spaces that feel unfamiliar, and that can challenge confidence.

But the qualities that helped you succeed in sport — resilience, adaptability, commitment, and determination — don’t disappear. They’re still there, and sometimes you just need opportunities to recognise and apply them in a different way.

ACT Community Open Access is designed to help athletes build confidence through connection, learning and new opportunities.

No athlete succeeds alone. Neither does transition.

The people you learn from. The people who challenge you. The people who support you. The people who open doors.

Community matters.

That’s why ACT Community exists.

To help athletes connect with people who understand the journey, share experiences, and create opportunities together. Because sometimes the biggest step forward starts with finding your people.

Opportunities often start with conversations.

Many athletes leave sport with incredible experiences, skills and resilience — but not always a strong professional network outside their sporting environment.

Networking isn’t about collecting contacts. It’s about learning from others, sharing experiences, discovering opportunities and building meaningful relationships that can support your next chapter.

Whether you’re exploring a new career, looking to grow your confidence, or simply wanting to connect with like-minded people, your network matters. That’s why networking is our Community focus this month.

Athletes are often told to focus on performance.

But some of the most important opportunities happen away from the field, court, track, or pool.

A conversation, a connection, a shared experience, a recommendation.

Networking isn’t about collecting contacts: it’s about building relationships, learning from others, and discovering opportunities you didn’t know existed.

Starting from tomorrow, we’re exploring the power of connection inside ACT Community because sometimes one conversation can change everything.

The truth is, most athletes don’t start with a clear plan.

They start with questions:
🌟 What am I interested in?
🌟 What skills do I have beyond sport?
🌟 What opportunities are out there?
🌟 Where do I even begin?

Figuring out what’s next isn’t about having all the answers, but giving yourself permission to explore.

Every athlete’s journey is different. For some, it’s a new career. For others, it’s study, business, mentoring, community involvement or a completely unexpected path.

The important thing is taking that first step.

ACT Community Open Access gives athletes access to opportunities, resources, insights and connections that can help shape what’s next—whatever that looks like for you.

It’s easy to feel like you’re beginning again when you step into something new: a new career, a new industry, a new challenge.

But athletes don’t start from scratch.

You bring experience, discipline, resilience, leadership, perspective.

The challenge isn’t building new strengths - it’s recognising the ones you already have.

ACT Community Open Access helps athletes identify opportunities where those strengths can thrive. Your next chapter starts with everything you’ve already learned.

Many athletes actually say the opposite - so does the research.

Thinking about what comes next can actually reduce pressure and uncertainty, so you don’t need to choose between performance or planning.

Exploring future opportunities while you’re still competing can help you feel more confident, prepared and in control. Transition doesn’t start when sport ends — it often starts with a question.

What could be next for me?

ACT Community Open Access gives athletes space to explore this question, access opportunities and support— without pressure.

3 things athletes wish they knew sooner 👇

1. You don’t need all the answers yet: Not knowing exactly what comes next is normal.

For many athletes, the pressure to have a “plan” can feel overwhelming — especially when so much focus has been on performance. Transition isn’t about having everything figured out overnight. It starts with curiosity and small steps.

2. Starting early reduces stress later: Thinking about life beyond sport doesn’t mean you’re less committed to competing.

In fact, many athletes say that exploring options early helped reduce uncertainty and gave them more confidence in the present. Knowing what’s possible can ease pressure, not add to it.

3. Your sporting experience matters outside sport: The skills built through sport don’t disappear.

Discipline. Resilience. Leadership. Communication. Handling pressure. These experiences matter — and they transfer into careers, education, and opportunities beyond competition.

You don’t have to wait until sport ends to start exploring what’s next.

That’s why ACT Community Open Access exists — to help athletes navigate transition with support, confidence, and opportunity. Join us via the link in our bio.
