Glass walls and doors can visibly open up the house whilst avoiding some of the pitfalls of open plan. They can help contain kitchen smells whilst still being able to feel part of the adjacent room or they can be switchable turning a clear partition into a translucent obscuring surface when privacy is required. They can be decorated on either or both surfaces to partially obscure them or you can make them a beautiful, dramatic or subtle feature wall which still allows light to meld between areas.
