Upstarter Incubator Working with creatives, designers and makers, we offer the incubation and mentoring programmes the tech world takes for granted.

Upstarter Incubator transforms upstarts into startups. This is not incubation as usual. We have developed a new kind of design-led incubation service for makers, creatives and designers. We work with people with great new ideas and turn them into entrepreneurs running successful micro businesses. We work with the kinds of people who are able to think inventively enough to make the products and ser

vices we need in the future. We believe that for a new economy, we need these new kinds of entrepreneurs – lots of them. Our goal is the regeneration of places through a million new micro businesses in a range of locations. The way we do this is different because we take a design-led- approach to forming business. The results are rapid as the business is prototyped into the right form and founders develop a deep engagement with customers and audiences. Our service comes in the form of business issue workshops, short 6 week programs, long term active mentoring and acceleration programs over 12 months. Visit our website to find out about the full range of our service. You’ll find us in incubation centers and workplace hubs in many locations (currently London, Bristol and Barcelona). In each location we work with the local talent, conditions and resources. So each place has a different flavor of Upstarter, and will look and feel slightly different. We are not a workspace management company, or a high tech, high growth accelerator - but we work with many of them and we form a bridge between our new businesses and other startup funders and services.

Last weekend, we did two Artists Brunches - where we ran a micro workshop with a group of visiting artists at the Ventnor fringe looking at how we can make more from what we do, to sustain our business, as well as our practice. We've been talking to a set of organisations from around the south coast of the UK to see how we can work together. This year it seems to be bearing fruit, in a tour of venues for coastal towns. The plan is to work with some of the great people who are already working in these towns, and bringing some of Upstarter thinking and programme to people who are ready to try some new business activity in response to the needs in their locations. We’re off to Ventnor to join in with the wonderful Ventnor Fringe Festival that started yesterday. Come and find us at the Artists Brunch on Saturday and Sunday at 11am at the Harbourside, where we’ll be kicking around ideas of making a living through the work you love, without selling out. No booking needed. And its free - because the organisers understand that artists don’t have deep pockets!
