Recently World Afro Day founder met with Baroness Lawrence, whose tireless campaigning has helped to bring about tangible policy changes in Britain. She was an ordinary citizen, who took on the state and sytemic racism was legally defined and acknowledged as a failing for the first time in UK history.

This meeting of community advocates was a reminder of how serious the issues are concerning Afro hair, which is often mistreated and ignored in British society but has real consequences for children, health and jobs. The evidence is clear that the 2010 Equality Act doesn’t work for Afro hair.

We hope the government will listen and take this opportunity to get it right! Thanks to MP who sponsors my work in Parliament.
