Happy Birthday Vladimir Ashkenazy!

Among the first artists who joined HarrisonParrott in 1969, Vladimir Ashkenazy’s relationship with the agency spanned more than five decades, from his early years as a pianist to an international career as a conductor, and on to his retirement in 2020.

This long partnership reflects a shared commitment to trust, long-term thinking and artistic integrity, values that shaped a remarkable career and continue to inform how we work today.

In looking ahead, we have also been looking back. Delving into the HarrisonParrott archives has uncovered a wealth of stories, photographs and reflections that speak to the relationships at the heart of our history. Jasper Parrott joins BBC Sounds’ Gary Crowley for a wide-ranging conversation, sharing reflections on his remarkable career, the artists he has worked with, and the enduring power of music.

“My perspective of London grew out of a quite different frame of reference, apart from music, my other greatest passion is history. I’m rather well informed about the evolution of London over its incredible history. The waves of migrants who came – in a way, it feels that I belong in this long history. I’m not in the sense of 'Only British', but this is my home and my world. This is a world I admire and relish so much because it includes such a vast range of different nationalities, cultures and emblems of unification rather than separation."

📣 HarrisonParrott is delighted to welcome violinist Hana Chang to its roster for general management. Hana combines remarkable musical maturity with an exceptionally rich palette of tonal colours, shaping every note with intention and expressive depth.

Currently a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist and Borletti Buitoni Trust Fellowship recipient, the 2026/27 season will see her performing with the BBC Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich under Marin Alsop. She will make her debut at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival with the Odense Symphony Orchestra, and give recitals and chamber music performances at leading venues including the Vienna Musikverein and Konzerthaus, Wigmore Hall, as well as in Munich, Frankfurt and Nuremberg.

📣 Kristian Sallinen has been appointed as the next Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Tampere Filharmonia. He will begin his three-year tenure in August 2027.

“I am deeply honoured and grateful for the trust Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra has placed in me,” says Sallinen. ​“It is a privilege to work with such outstanding musicians, and I look forward to creating a future together with the orchestra and its audiences.”
