School business wisdom...
🙋♂️STOP EXPECTING EVERY PARENT TO ENROL THEIR CHILD IN YOUR SCHOOL.
Your school is not for everyone, and that's perfectly okay.
As a school proprietor, it's tempting to believe that every parent should want what you offer and enrol their children in your school. This is a trap I've seen many school proprietors get caught in - they think every parent is a potential customer. But the truth is, not all parents are meant for your school, and your school isn't meant for all parents.
Trying to attract every parent will only dilute your impact and drain your resources - your mission will be compromised. Instead, focus on attracting the right kind of parents - the ones who align with your school's values, vision, and pricing. These are the ones I call: Perfect Fit Parents
The Perfect Fit Parents. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Perfect Fit Parents are the ones your school is designed to serve. But they don’t just stumble into your admissions office, they’re drawn to your school because you’ve intentionally positioned it to meet their specific needs. (Remember your USP - Unique Selling Proposition. That's why it's created)
Here’s how to identify the Perfect Fit Parents for your school:
🔎 Traits of Perfect Fit Parents 🎯
These are parents or sponsors who will help your school succeed, not just survive. They bring stability, harmony, and long-term value.
Here's what sets them apart:
✅ 1. They have specific needs that your school is designed to solve.
✅ 2. They’re actively seeking solutions to those needs (concerning their children/wards) and they want them NOW or very soon.
✅ 3. They have the financial capacity to pay your fees consistently and without drama.
Stop dissipating your time and energy on families who are not the right match. Don't go after parents who can't afford your fees.
This isn't being harsh; it's being strategic. By focusing on perfect-fit parents, you save yourself a lot of headaches and ensure your school remains financially healthy and impactful for a long time. There are other schools better suited for those families, and that's okay.
You are in the school business to solve problems, make an impact, and be rewarded for your worthy effort.
So, build your school for the right parents, and let the rest find their fit elsewhere. That's school business wisdom.
