When the world saw her juggling farm work and studies, few could imagine that 21-year-old Bidu Nayak from Nuapada village in Odisha would soon be walking into a medical college.

Daughter of daily wage labourers Narendra and Premasilla Nayak, Bidu’s days were split between the fields and her textbooks. Yet, her determination never wavered.

From excelling in her +2 at ST/SC Higher Secondary School in Lanjigarh, where she topped the block in 2024, to starting a tuition centre in her village while continuing agricultural work, Bidu proved that dreams don’t wait for perfect circumstances.

With the support of her relative Lavanya Pujhari, she moved to Bhubaneswar for NEET coaching and cracked the exam in June 2025.

Today, she has secured admission at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, turning a lifelong dream into reality.
