The future is going back to the past

Time traveling staircase, 2021

‘Steps to time traveling’ is an intervention in Chisenhale Works, London. The staircase takes you through a journey to the future, travelling throughtout the inner and outer part of the building, reminding us of Chisenhale’s past as a factory and a brewery.
As you travel to the future, you will experience the height. You will need to make more physical and mental effort to go higher. Once you have reached the highest point and decide to go to back to the past, layers and layers of heavy past will destabilize you and force you to disengage with your autopilot, so that you can sense the thick steps of the past.

Moods from the ‘Anthropomorphic Scarecrow building’.

The project was a translation of John Hejduk’s masque named: “Scarecrow house”. It was translated into a human size building that attracts birds and burn them as a sacrifice, working as a contradiction to the scarecrow’s original purpose, which is to scare birds away.

“John Hejduk: London Masques”, exhibited at the Royal Academy with other amazing works from March 23, 2022.

‘Anthropomorphic Scarecrow Building’

He is tall and standing still.
Sometimes he moves and
attracts the wind,
but he is always standing there
waiting for birds to come
and eat the seeds,
a trap set to burn them
and make it all disappear.

Every detail makes the experience more memorable.

The restaurant is divided in 2 parts. A side where there is more prominent traditional Chinese architecture and a modern side that fuses with Ecuadorian landscapes.

The concept of this restaurant was to marry the traditional and modern Chinese architecture with the Ecuadorian landscapes typical from the area such as the Tungurahua volcano and its mountains, through light-like paintings in Chinese style.
