It’s weird how, when cutting your own masters, you feel compelled to babysit the lathe throughout the entire cut.
As if simply standing there like a horse, watching it, will somehow make the record sound better… and stop the lathe from misbehaving. 😁

Then again, my dad is from Southern Italy… so perhaps this level of sonic superstition was always entrenched in my DNA.
Never take your eyes off the lathe, guys. It knows. 😂

A mastering studio knows two silences: the wait for the first song as you open the studio door, and at night after the final master, with monitors silent & lights out.

The studio rests, but is never empty; every song leaving its own unique story.

And she’s here! The record we mastered for live performance for our straight to vinyl challenge’ in collaboration with and .peaks.diner for Kendal calling 26’ was a major success!!

By 4am on Saturday morning, after Sam had recorded the live performance, it was mixed, mastered with the lacquer cut.
Just a few hours earlier, Tim Burgess had been performing live at Tim Peaks Diner during Kendal Calling 2026. Less than two days later, fans were holding the finished vinyl in their hands.
From that point onwards, an incredible team at Press On Vinyl, coordinated by Director David Todd, took over. The lacquer was plated by Emily, the vinyl records were pressed, sleeved, packed & delivered back to the festival in time for Tim to personally sign copies for fans on Sunday.
After spending the previous night in the studio, it was brilliant to finally head to Kendal Calling on Sunday, to catch up with David outside Tim Peaks Diner, and enjoy the last evening of the festival.
Producing a record from a live performance in under 48 hours is never the work of one person, it's the result of the artist & the fab team working all together against the clock
