🔥 FIRE ALARM FIRST FIX COMPLETE – CROYDON 🔥

Another project progressing nicely for the SD Fire Solutions team.

Our engineers have now completed the first-fix installation of the new fire detection and alarm system at this Croydon project, with the cabling installed and secured ready for the new ceilings to be fitted.

Completing the first fix correctly is a vital part of any fire alarm installation. Careful planning, cable routing and coordination with the other trades at this stage helps ensure a clean, compliant and professional finished installation.

Once the ceiling works are complete, we’ll return for second fix, device installation, programming, testing and commissioning.

WHAT IS YOUR FIRE ALARM HIDING? 🚨

During a recent takeover service carried out in accordance with BS 5839-1:2025, our engineers identified several serious non-compliance issues:

⚠️ A non-fire-rated mains supply connected to the fire alarm equipment
⚠️ Fire alarm loop cabling linked out inside the control panel, concealing faults and an open circuit
⚠️ Contamination within the control panel and around the standby batteries
⚠️ Open holes in the top of the panel enclosure
⚠️ Corrosion caused by drinks being stored and spilt on top of the fire alarm panel

All issues were documented, reported and coordinated with the client for corrective action.

Fire alarm panels are not shelves. They are essential life-safety equipment and must be kept clear, protected and properly maintained.

A thorough takeover service can uncover hidden faults, unauthorised alterations and unsafe practices that may compromise the system when it is needed most.
