Holding onto your career aspirations can be challenging when:

👉 Representation in leadership roles isn't visible, you can't be what you can't see.

👉🏿 Feedback suggests a lack of gravitas and executive presence, there is a difference between getting in and getting on in an organisation.

👉 Career transitions leave you uncertain about finding a place where your contributions are acknowledged. It is about the talent for the organization but also preparing the organization for the talent.

Never allow anyone to persuade you that your career goals are unattainable.

You are the right person, you just haven't found the right situation yet. 🙌🏾

Creating an inclusive workplace is essential for fostering diversity, equity and a positive work environment.

Remember that creating an inclusive workplace is an ongoing process, and it's important to involve employees in these activities to ensure their voices and perspectives are heard. Encourage open dialogue, educate, and continuously improve to make your workplace a truly inclusive and welcoming environment.

Even though it is a complex and serious conversation, there are some fun and effective activities you can implement to promote inclusivity within your teams and organizations.

Here are some of them:

1. Inclusive Book Club: Start a book club where employees read books focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. This can spark meaningful discussions and broaden perspectives.

2. Anonymous Suggestion Box: Set up a suggestion box or online platform where employees can anonymously voice concerns, share ideas, or ask questions related to inclusion.

3. Flexible Work Arrangements: Offer flexible work arrangements to accommodate employees with various needs, such as parents, caregivers, or individuals with disabilities.

4. Inclusive Employee Appreciation: Celebrate accomplishments and milestones of employees from various backgrounds and experiences.

The price of hiring a new employee is costly business. This is why it is so important that not only do we treat our people well, we create an environment where they can be their best selves and do their best work. That is an inclusive one where we listen to one another, we are authentic, we respect ourselves and others and we get value from diversity by managing inclusion.

Not only do we support organisations to create inclusive working
environments, we can also measure inclusion through our Inclusion Audit powered by Inclusionomics, The Only Inclusion-Centric People Analytics Platform.

If you would like to get started on creating a culture of inclusion in your organisation, reach out to us now.

Gendered age biases still exist, and it’s not okay. A @‌harvard_business_review study reveals women are either too young to be taken seriously, or too old to be taken seriously. There is "no right age" for promotion.

The study, which surveyed more than 900 women in professional roles ranging from higher education executives to attorneys and physicians, found that many reported facing discrimination at every step of their careers.

Younger women, and those who appeared younger, were given pet names, patted on the head, and faced "role incredulity," with others mistaking them for interns, trainees, administrative assistants or other paralegals, the study found.

Middle-aged women, meanwhile, also faced ageism, with one college executive recounting that some search committees opt against hiring women in their late 40s due to the perception of "too much family responsibility and impending menopause".

While older male workers are viewed as authoritative, older women are often discounted in the workplace.

The question arises: What is your organization doing to change this?

There is always this idea that the leader or manager has to have all the answers and to lead from the front. We find some of the best leaders are the ones who lead with humility and focus on their people rather than themselves.
