Ascend ADHD

Ascend ADHD Aspire. Achieve. Ascend. Hiring neurodivergent talent is now a strategic edge. Most workplaces aren’t equipped to support ADHDers effectively. It’s about climbing.

At Ascend ADHD, we partner with forward-thinking law firms, financial institutions, and purpose-driven businesses to build ADHD-aware and informed workplaces which leverage their neurodiverse talent and create workplaces that truly work for everyone. Companies actively recruit ADHDers for their creativity, innovation, and unique problem-solving skills. However, many still face high turnover, not d

ue to a lack of talent but to a lack of understanding. A one-hour session won’t solve this. Even a short course isn’t enough. We know that awareness alone isn’t enough. We go beyond short-term training to create long-term, coaching-led partnerships that drive real cultural change. From manager education to executive strategy, we help organisations harness ADHD as a powerful asset, improving retention, performance, and leadership. Soon, we will champion the rise of ambitious ADHDers—entrepreneurs, executives, and future leaders—through pioneering performance coaching that transforms ADHD into a strategic advantage. Founded by Stephanie Camilleri, one of the UK’s leading ADHD performance coaches and founder of the ADHD Advocate, Ascend ADHD brings over a decade of real-world insight to every client and every collaboration. This isn’t about coping. It’s time to Ascend.

“Ascend ADHD is a place where ADHDers can truly thrive—and I couldn’t be more excited." I’m incredibly proud of what I built with The ADHD Advocate. It’s been a powerful journey, creating real impact through coaching and awareness training. But I’ve always known we could go beyond the one-hour workshop. That’s why I created Ascend ADHD. Not to offer quick fixes, but to build genuine, lasting partnerships with businesses ready to create ADHD-friendly workplaces from the ground up. We’re here to collaborate, not just train. To embed, not just inform. To help workplaces become not just inclusive, but exceptional. And this is just the beginning. We’ll soon launch The Ascent Programme, a game-changer for ADHD entrepreneurs ready to scale boldly, lead authentically, and succeed on their terms. Watch this space. The rise starts here.

This week in the programme, we’re focusing on Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria.

Because for ADHD entrepreneurs, RSD isn’t just about what someone says.
It’s about what their silence, feedback, delay or “no” seems to confirm.

If the story running underneath is:
“I’m difficult.”
“I’m too much.”
“I always get it wrong.”
“I’m a bad person.”
…then every unanswered email, declined proposal or awkward client conversation can feel like evidence.

In a recent coaching session, we explored how looking back through the ADHD lens can completely reframe old shame. Behaviours once judged as “bad” were better understood as unmet needs, overwhelm, emotional dysregulation and not having the language to explain what was happening.

That doesn’t excuse everything.
But it changes the story.
And when the story changes, RSD has less to grab onto.

In the Ascend ADHD Entrepreneurs Programme, we help ADHD entrepreneurs look back, reframe, and build forward with strategies that support their brain and business. Join us: https://entrepreneur.ascend-adhd.com/momentum-page

You’ll often find unmet needs.

𝗔𝗗𝗛𝗗 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀.

They’ll work late.
Absorb the pressure.
Rescue the client relationship.
Fill the gaps.
Carry the emotional weight.
Redo the work rather than have the difficult conversation.

But then, when it comes to their team?

They lower the bar. Not because they don’t care about standards. Usually because they care *too much*:

They don’t want to seem demanding.
They don’t want to trigger conflict.
They don’t want to disappoint people.
They don’t want to become the kind of boss they once struggled under.

So they tolerate underperformance.

They over-explain.
They soften the message.
They avoid the direct conversation.
They make excuses for people.
They carry work that was never supposed to be theirs.

And slowly, the business starts to orbit around everyone else’s comfort — instead of the founder’s vision, standards, and clients.

Here’s the reframe:

High standards are not the problem. Unclear standards are. Avoided conversations are. Expecting yourself to compensate for everyone else is.

ADHD founders don’t need to become harsher leaders.
They need to become clearer ones.

Clear about the role.
Clear about the standard.
Clear about what “good” looks like.
Clear about what is no longer sustainable.
Clear about the fact that their clients, business, and nervous system matter too.

This is exactly the kind of work we do inside the Ascend Entrepreneurs Programme: https://entrepreneur.ascend-adhd.com/momentum-page

We help ADHD founders build businesses with structure, standards, support and self-trust - without burning themselves out or losing their humanity.

If you’re an ADHD entrepreneur who knows you’re carrying too much, join the Ascend ADHD Entrepreneurs Programme: https://entrepreneur.ascend-adhd.com/momentum-page

It’s time to stop being the safety net for standards no one else has agreed to meet.

Often, they’re struggling because they care too much... and expect themselves to be excellent in every role, all at once.
Founder. Parent. Partner. Leader. Friend. Visionary. Decision-maker. Problem-solver. Calm, consistent, available, organised, strategic, healthy, responsive… and somehow still “fine”.

In a client session this morning, we stepped back from the story:
“I’m failing.”
“I should be able to handle this.”
“I’m letting people down.”
And asked a better question:
"𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦?"

This is where Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria ("RSD") can be so powerful. It doesn’t always need real criticism to take hold. Sometimes it’s the imagined disappointment. The perceived judgement. The fear that not doing everything perfectly means we’re not doing enough.
But when we looked at the reality: the roles, the pressure, the moving parts... the problem wasn’t failure.
It was an impossible expectation.

This week in the Ascend Entrepreneurs Programme, we’re working on "RSD": how it shows up in business, leadership and self-worth, and how to stop letting old stories make today’s decisions.

𝗔𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 - 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

One of the biggest patterns I see in ADHD students, professionals and entrepreneurs is this automatic belief that they have to “figure it out” on their own.
They won’t ask the teacher.
They won’t email the lecturer.
They won’t seek clarity from the client.
They won’t ask the mentor.

𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱?
They spend HOURS searching, overthinking, second-guessing and trying to independently solve problems that could have been resolved in a five-minute conversation.

𝗪𝗵𝘆?
Often, underneath this is rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD).
The fear of looking stupid.
The fear of being judged.
The fear of being “too much”.
The fear of bothering people.
So the ADHD brain defaults to self-reliance and hyper-independence, even when it is deeply inefficient.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘄𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀.
Asking for help is:
• Strategic
• Efficient
• Resourceful
• Collaborative
• A sign of emotional intelligence and leadership

The most successful entrepreneurs and leaders are not independent. They are interdependent.

And this is SO important for ADHD entrepreneurs who often start their businesses alone and stay stuck in the story of “If it’s meant to be, it’s up to me.”
It isn’t.

Naming RSD is incredibly powerful because once you can identify the pattern, you can interrupt it. You stop unconsciously obeying the fear and start making decisions from a place of clarity instead.

This fortnight inside our Ascend Entrepreneurs Programme, we are diving deeply into RSD, self-trust, interdependence and the mindset shifts ADHD entrepreneurs need to scale sustainably without burning themselves out.

Because what got you here won’t get you there...
