Graphics designed by artist & tattooist Elliott lane who you’ll find just down the road. Great to have a local friend bringing a bit of fun to the shop front with a rat sizing up a giant London brick soap bubbling away on Roman Road.

Citrus Dock: The rhyme “Oranges and Lemons” is believed to have helped Londoners remember the location of churches across the city. The maker: The bronze die was fabricated for us in the West Midlands. The maker produces precision dies for manufacturers including Bugatti and Aston Martin, so we knew the work was in safe hands.

The final refinements and tweaks were completed remotely, working through the details with their team by phone. It was fascinating to see this specialist manufacturing process up close, and particularly good to see this kind of precision engineering and pattern-making still being carried out in the UK

SAE660: Material selection was critical to the performance of the new bronze soap die. SAE660 bronze was chosen for its strength, durability and ability to withstand the high compressive forces generated when the soap is pressed into the die.

Isometric view of the bronze soap die, designed in-house to the exact dimensions and specification of a historic die kindly supplied by Droyts. Matching the original specification precisely ensured the new die would fit the Edwardian soap stamping machine used to press the new bars
