Dinosaurs, Moon Rocks and Earth’s Amazing Secrets – Festival of Geology 2026!

As part of the 2026 Festival of Geology we are very excited to be hosting samples of genuine lunar rocks and meteorites courtesy of the 'Borrow the Moon' programme by the Science and Technology Facilities Council using materials from The National Space Academy

We will have a number of workshops throughout the day where you can see the rocks at close quarters and hear about where they're from and how they formed. Sign up at the Welcome Desk on the day.

Join us at The Geological Society Burlington House on Friday, 2nd October for our next free evening talk: Thirty years of discovery at the UK's largest dinosaur track site in North Oxfordshire by Professor Kirsty Edgar, University of Birmingham.

Non-members are welcome free of charge. The talk commences at 18.00 GMT and refreshments will be served beforehand in the Lower Library from 17.30 GMT and also afterwards.
