⚡️One single item that allows to dramatically improve posture (and walk) is a good bra. Let us explain.

🍊Posture is one of the key elements of bra health. Lack of support from a bra can cause muscles to work harder, resulting in tension and discomfort. This can trigger other symptoms like headaches, muscle aches and pains. When the bra does not give support, your upper back might appear more rounded. Your shoulders can hunch and your chin poke more forward into a poor posture.

🍊The back muscles are put under additional strain when the body assumes this position, and they gradually become weaker. In this position, the head's weight is pressed onto the neck muscles. The neck muscles have to work quite hard and become very sore since the head is so heavy.

🍊Good posture is a key part of our health, so look after your posture by doing corrective exercises, have good workstation ergonomics, and choose a good supportive bra.

🍊The interconnection is visible with osteopaths and physiotherapists in their educational discussions with the patients. The Osteopath Magazine in the UK has written about this for some time. To learn more, see our Blog post "Health Considerations for Buying a New Bra”, link in bio.

We found this declaration of design principles refreshing and inspirational. Here are the 4F's of lingerie design by Hannah Farrugia Sharples, the founder of Coutille Lingerie:

🔸 Feel: how the garment feels when you put it on and how it makes you feel.

🔸 Fit: it must fit perfectly to make you feel good in it; during product development it is not uncommon to go through multiple (8!) fitting stages to make sure the fit is as good as it can possibly be and works for most shapes (the tricky part in its own right).

🔸 Fabrication: investing in the fabric that make up the garment - choosing the highest quality softest material that meets the quality standard and is sustainable.

🔸 Finesse: creating a product that is different, visionary, and offering something that people cannot get elsewhere

🙏ℹ️ Huge thank you to Asi Efros who brings these conversations to life with her Intimate Talks program. See Asi's channel for more: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBnp_XiF54HTSVOtdTWv94Q.

Finding a nursing bra that is comfortable, stylish and supportive, especially for fuller-chested mums, can be a challenge. Here are tips from lactation consultants to help the new mums out.

✅ Find a bra that looks good, supports you and is the right size. In the last weeks of pregnancy your breasts are about the same size as when you are breastfeeding, so wait until the end of your pregnancy to get fitted.
✅ Choose an underwire-free bra as the wires can, if fitted incorrectly, cut in. The band needs to be slightly looser as the breasts really do expand and reduce during the day.
✅ The absolutely worst feature on most nursing bras is seam running vertically down bra cup. If you have thrush, this seam causes friction and exacerbates the already painful area.
✅ For those who tend to have sore breasts, steer clear of ‘over-the-head’ type bras as getting them on can be quite difficult.
✅ Budget the room for breast pads in the first few weeks.
✅ Aim for breathable hypoallergenic fabric (cotton or bamboo) and lightweight product - your breasts will feel hotter than usual when breastfeeding.
✅ Now that the internet shopping is accessible, choose 2-3 styles in 2-3 different sizes each (check returns policy) and play with them at home, fiddle with the straps and the cups and make sure you can undo clasps one-handed, before narrowing it down to your ‘core’ collection. It is practical to have 4 bras as a minimum, and some opt for 6 or 7.

🛍️ We make 2 maternity bra styles - Mama Chic and Happy Mummy - sizes going up to H cup. We offer free FitKits to help you measure and check out the materials before you buy. Order yours today.

𝟗 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭

❌Don’t offer tips or advice to a person with cancer, unless asked specifically. Everyone’s diagnosis and therapy is different and decisions made are personal. The latest clinical trials, medical research, medical advice or advice / ideas about diet or health strategies are not usually helpful. Unless you know the person very well and understand how they feel about discussing these, it’s best to stay away from any conversation like this.

❌Don’t say they will be fine. Those words belittle the severity of the treatment.

❌Don’t tell cancer patients you know what they are going through unless you’ve been through it too.

❌Don’t ask too many questions. You may feel that when you ask questions you are supporting them by showing an interest, but this can often feel intrusive and they may not be ready to talk about certain things.

❌Don’t offer to help and then not be reliable or sincere in your offer.

❌Don’t visit unannounced. Always call or message and make sure they feel ready to see you.

❌Don’t force them to stay positive or be brave. Talking to cancer patients about being
positive or brave may stop them from expressing how they really feel. This could even contribute to making them feel guilty or bad about their real emotional struggles.

❌Don’t tell stories about other people’s cancer/health issues unless they are very relevant AND positive/uplifting.

❌Don’t let them know you are afraid or make them worry about your emotions.

When a tester writes a review, that’s pretty good.
When the tester buys the product and writes a repeat review, that’s a whole different level of good.

Here is what we’ve got from Susan, 34F: “it is completely beautiful and fits perfectly. I love the colour of the pink and the contrasting green and wore it on Friday (very comfortable). I was lucky to get to see the Tiffany jewellery exhibition in London on Friday, (which was almost as nice as my new bra) …”

Frida would approve. Don’t you think? Comment below.

A picture worth a thousand words ...
"The bra is comfortable” would feel like a pathetic attempt to describe what this bra is. So instead, we invite you to trade places and tell us how it makes you feel.

🔥 Do you use fabric conditioner when washing your bra?

🔥 Don’t! … because it clogs up the fabric fibres, prevents them from breathing, and makes you sweat more. The buildup is irreversible. So just don’t. The trick has been long known in the sports clothes care but has not quite made it wholesale to the lingerie care yet.

🔥 Bra-related friction is another issue high on the agenda. Wear breathable natural materials in your bra and choose looser-fitting clothes.

🛍️ Out of our range, we can suggest Bra du Jour and Etta; these are wired ultra-comfort bras with cotton-lined cups. If you are ditching wires altogether, then Brava and Pola Negri are your saviours. Check them out.
