The Spilhaus Projection. In 1942, Athelstan Spilhaus produced a world map with a unique perspective, presenting the world's oceans as one body of water.

MANGROVE OYSTER (Crassostrea rhizophorea)
Found intertidally on the roots of the red mangrove tree in bays and estuaries across the Caribbean, including Kingston Harbour.
As long ago as 1977, cultivation of this indigenous oyster was identified as a solution to the drastic overfishing resulting in the near deletion of feral populations in Jamaica. Still being attempted today!! In the meantime awareness raising of this critical issue with local fisher communities through the seeks to reduce the unregulated harvesting of this important mangrove ecosystem creature.

Thinking about the people of St Vincent & the Grenadines in the midst of their volcanic eruption crisis.
For some developing countries, especially Small Island Developing States (SIDS), the journey of economic development is like the old board game “Snakes and Ladders”. Socio-economic Progress that can take years to achieve, is set back in a matter of hours or days by a natural disaster occurrence - a hurricane, earthquake or volcano.
This REALITY needs to be incorporated into the operations of the present World Economic order
Particularly as several of these countries are no longer eligible for certain relief aid (on concessional terms) - having, ironically, been designated “Middle Income Countries”.
A temporary categorisation in the “game” of Snakes and Ladders, at best.

Thousands have fled their homes on the island of St Vincent as a volcano continues to erupt.
