Many student exercise and health researchers are not well equipped to analyse, interpret, and present their own data to a publishable standard. We understand the difficulties that this brings and the anxieties that can follow and we want to help. We are early career researchers with expertise and experience using and teaching a wide range of statistical techniques and publishing data in high-ranki
ng journals. We can help you:
• Build and understand a statistical plan
• Ensure studies have adequate power
• Organise and collate data
• Clean and screen data
• Check distributions and statistical assumptions
• Perform a range of statistical procedures using SPSS
• Interpret SPSS outputs
• Present data in a results section
• Publish in a reputable journal
Dr Aiden Chauntry is a postdoctoral research fellow working at the University of Birmingham and Coventry University. He completed BSc and MSc degrees in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Birmingham and was awarded his PhD in the field of Behavioural Medicine from Loughborough University, with his research focusing on sedentary behaviour, physical activity, stress, and health. Aiden has published a number of journal articles, including a systematic review, a randomised cross-over trial, observational studies, and an online survey, which were underpinned by a range of general and generalized statistical procedures. Aiden also has over 3 years of experience in teaching (and examining) statistics and reviews articles for publication in leading journals. Dr Mark Hutson is a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Nutrition at Ulster University. He was awarded his PhD in the field of Exercise and Nutritional Medicine from Loughborough Univeristy and has previously completed degrees in Sports & Exercise Science and Sports Nutrition at Liverpool John Moores University. Mark’s research interests surround the effects of nutrition and exercise on health and performance, and he has received grant funding from the American College of Sports Medicine to pursue them. He has used a variety of statistical techniques to analyse data from randomised control trials and epidemiological surveys and has published his findings in leading journals. He also has >2 years of experience teaching a wide range of statistical procedures to postgraduates in the fields of sports, exercise, and health. To request to book 60-minute consultation, please email [email protected] and briefly describe the reason for your request. We are sports, exercise, and health researchers with an in-depth understanding of applying statistics within our field but do not claim to be statisticians.
