One of the biggest visibility myths I hear is that you need the perfect outfit, perfect hair, perfect photos and the perfect plan before you can show up.

You don’t.

Some days I’m out for an early morning walk.
Some days I’m camera-ready.

Both are me.

The businesses that build trust aren’t necessarily the ones with the most polished content. They’re the ones that show up consistently and let people get to know the person behind the business.

The photos we nearly don’t take are often the ones that matter most.

Yesterday was Selfie Day, and it got me thinking.

I’m usually the person behind the camera, not in front of it.

But every now and then it’s important to step into the frame, even if it’s just a quick photo, a short video or a selfie with Jimi.

Not because it’s perfect.

Not because it’s for social media.

But because one day it becomes a memory.

This morning’s walk reminded me that the little moments often end up meaning the most.

Today is National Selfie Day.

It’s also the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, and for many people, Father’s Day too.

There are lots of reasons to take a selfie today.

This is mine with my faithful sidekick, Jimi.

I could talk about someone who is no longer here and who was a wonderful dad to my girls, but if I’m honest, that still feels a little too raw.

So instead, let’s celebrate the selfie.

Whether it’s with your children, your dog, your partner, your dad, or simply just you, I’d love to see your selfie today.

Behind every photograph is a moment that can never be repeated.

Some of these images have helped businesses become visible.
Some have captured milestones and memories.
Some simply remind people how loved they are.

None of them were created by AI.
They were created through real conversations, real connections and real moments.

This reel is a little reminder of why I still love what I do after all these years.

Photography isn’t just about taking pictures.
It’s about capturing all the feels.

I was scrolling through my camera roll today and noticed it’s full of the same things.

Jimi.
Coffee.
Behind-the-scenes moments.
Places I’ve been.
And the odd screenshot I’ve completely forgotten about.

It got me thinking…

One of the things we’ll talk about in my phone photography workshop is learning to spot the stories you’re already capturing every day.

Your phone is probably full of content ideas. Sometimes you just need a fresh pair of eyes to see them.

It’s International Picnic Day… but this isn’t really about sandwiches.

It’s about noticing the little moments around you.

Photography Challenge:
Today, head outside and photograph:

• Something colourful
• Something textured
• Something that makes you smile
• A detail most people would walk past
• A photo of yourself enjoying the moment

You don’t need fancy equipment.
Just your phone and a few minutes away from your desk.

The best photos often happen when you slow down and pay attention.

People often ask me whether they should invest in professional photos or just use their phone.

My answer is always both.

Professional photos give you a strong bank of images for your website, marketing and social media.

Your phone captures the everyday moments in between. The coffee shop meetings, the networking events, the work in progress and the little wins.

People buy from people, and those everyday photos help people get to know the person behind the business.
