September is properly here.

The schools are back, summer holidays are over and suddenly it feels like everyone is getting back into work mode again.

Including me.

September always feels a little bit like a second January. A chance to look at what you’ve been doing, what you’ve been putting off and what needs a bit more focus.

And maybe visibility is one of those things.

Have you been showing up for your business over the summer, or did social media quietly slip down the list while everything else took over?

No judgement here. Mine doesn’t always go to plan either!

How many autumn leaves can a child stuff into their pockets?

No idea, but you’ll find out when you do the washing. 😂

Autumn is my favourite season, and with the forest on our doorstep, it would be rude not to make the most of it.

My autumn family shoots are a chance to get everyone together for 30 minutes of fun, a wander and probably a bit of leaf throwing. I’ll take care of the photos.

£75 includes five images of your choice, perfect for your walls, Christmas gifts or cards that the grandparents will definitely keep.

And parents, you’re getting in the photos too. Hand over the bags. You’re part of this family!

When did you last update the photos you use for your business?

And I don’t mean changing your profile picture to another photo from the same shoot three years ago 😂

We change. Our businesses change. Our hair definitely changes!

So sometimes we just need a little refresh.

That’s what Focus & Glow is all about.

On 22nd September, I’m teaming up with a make-up artist for a relaxed session where you can have your make-up done, step in front of my camera and come away with some lovely new images of YOU.

Nothing stuffy. Nothing overly posed.

Just you looking like you, on a really good day.

And you’ll be doing it alongside other business owners, so there’s a bit of networking and connection thrown in too.

Right September… let’s get our FOCUS back. 📱

If your social media has been a bit hit and miss over the summer, you’re definitely not alone.

But now September is here and it’s time to start showing up again.

The problem is… what do you actually post?

That’s exactly why I created Focus Meets.

On Friday 18th September, we’re getting together for a relaxed couple of hours to learn, practise and actually CREATE some content using the camera you already have with you every day… your phone.

No complicated photography talk.

No pressure to be brilliant.

Just practical tips, ideas and a bit of confidence to help you take better photos for your business.

And because we’re doing it together, you’ll also have other people around to help get those photos of YOU too.

Because you can’t always be the one behind the camera. 😉

The summer holidays are pretty much over, the out of offices are disappearing and it feels like everyone is slowly getting back into business mode.

A relaxed, practical meet-up where we get out with our phones, take photographs, try different ideas and actually create some of that content we keep saying we need.

A completely different kind of event. A chance to update your photographs, meet other business owners and give yourself and your business a little September glow-up.

This weekend is always a difficult one for us as a family and one that brings with it a lot of reflection.

But I’m also feeling very grateful.

Both my girls are home for the long weekend and sometimes having everyone under the same roof is exactly what you need.

So I’m not rushing into September just yet.

I’m taking this weekend a little more slowly. Enjoying the noise in the house, the conversations, probably plenty of coffee, and appreciating the ordinary moments that actually aren’t so ordinary at all.

August has been busy, with lots happening behind the scenes and plenty I’m excited to share as we head into September.

But for now, it’s a weekend for family, memories and reflection.

And that’s enough. ❤️

Does September feel more like a fresh start than January?

It does to me.

August always feels a little different. Networking slows down, people are away, the children are off school and our usual business routines seem to disappear.

Then September comes around and suddenly it feels like it’s time to get going again.

Time to reconnect.

Get back out networking.

Start showing up again.

And maybe finally do some of those things you’ve been putting off over the summer.

If being more visible is one of them, start small.

Take a photograph.

Share what you’re working on.

Show your face.

Tell people what you do.

You don’t have to suddenly be everywhere.

You just need to start showing up again.

So, what are you getting back into this September?

You can read all the tips you like, but sometimes you just need to get out there and try it.

That’s a big part of Focus Meets.

Yes, I’ll show you some of the settings on your phone camera and we’ll talk about light, angles, backgrounds and composition.

But then we get out and actually put it into practice.

You’ll take photographs.

Try different angles.

See what happens when you move towards the light rather than away from it.

Look at your surroundings differently.

And probably discover a few things your phone camera can do that you didn’t even know about.

It’s relaxed, practical and in a small group, so there’s plenty of opportunity to ask questions and try things out.

The idea isn’t to turn you into a photographer.

It’s to help you feel more confident creating your own everyday content for your business.

Your phone camera is part of your business toolkit.

You don’t need to be a photographer to create good photographs for your business.

But knowing a few simple things can make a huge difference.

Where you stand in relation to the light.

What’s happening in the background.

The angle you choose.

How you frame the photograph.

And sometimes, simply remembering to clean your lens!

Professional brand photography absolutely has its place, but you also need those everyday photographs.

The behind the scenes.

The coffee meeting.

The work in progress.

The quick photograph when something catches your eye.

Learning how to make those photographs better gives you so much more content to work with.

And the best camera for those moments?

It’s probably already in your hand. 📱
