Reflecting on five years of running my consultancy since reaching that milestone this past April! 💫I’ve realised this path is as much a personal transformation as a professional one.

I intentionally chose to celebrate quietly last month to enjoy the achievement privately, but reflecting now, I wanted to share a bit of that journey and say a huge THANK YOU for all the support. These five years have taught me more than any other chapter of my career.

If I could go back and speak to myself five years ago, I would say:

"Sabiha,
🫣 You will have days when you think, 'What have I done?' You will doubt your decisions and second-guess your path. Finance will be your least favourite task, but it is the most important!

💫 Look for the light. You will be inspired by the community around you. Being 'out there' will enrich you in a way that four office walls never could.

😊 Find your tribe. Find the people who encourage you to do better. You will occasionally be tested, but those moments are few compared to the support of a true community.

💜 Give back. The intrinsic reward is immense."

To anyone else thinking about going solo: enjoy the journey. For me, my faith is my anchor; having Tawaqqul in the Almighty and trusting that what is meant for you will never miss you. We can only put in the hard work and believe!

As the saying goes: “Que Sera, Sera. Whatever will be, will be.” ✨

I am so grateful to everyone who has trusted me. My own experience with the barriers small business owners face is exactly why I’m so passionate about providing high-quality HR support.

It is International Networking Week, and I cannot think of a more fitting time to share some news from the weekend. ✨
Over the weekend, I was incredibly honoured to receive the Givers Gain Award, voted for by my peers at .encore

This award is named after Grant Wallendorf, whom we lost suddenly in terrible circumstances. Grant was a true gentleman with such an incredible presence; to receive an award in his name is a profound privilege.
Being recognised by such a talented group of business owners is a powerful reminder of why I do what I do.
A huge thank you to Claire Skentelbery for your leadership and support.it is leaders like you who make this community so impactful.

Since opening my consultancy, the peer support within the BNI Encore network has been invaluable. I remember the first day I walked in; I didn’t have a clue what it entailed and was a nervous wreck! But I felt at home immediately thanks to the warm welcome and deep conversations.

Starting a business can feel like a solitary journey, but being surrounded by such incredible people inspires me every single day. For me, helping others grow their businesses is the most rewarding part of my work, whether through strategic HR consultancy or active networking.
Receiving this award genuinely reinforces my commitment to helping small businesses flourish by putting people and community at the heart of everything. Thank you to the incredible people I have met along the way. 🤝

Last night, I had the privilege of attending Signposts' 40th Anniversary Gala right here in Luton.

As someone who opened my HR consultancy to help the community, it's an honour to work with this charity that is fighting relentlessly to end homelessness.

Hearing the stories—from the founders to the CEO's journey from recovery to leadership—was just awe-inspiring and a true testament to the power of dedication. It's proof that a little bit of community spirit and hard workgos a very long way.

A huge and heartfelt Happy 40th Anniversary, Signposts! Thank you for all you do for our town. 🧡

Receiving this message truly made my day today. 😀

It was a tricky situation, a client who had already faced a sponsorship license rejection and was on a tight deadline with their potential employee's visa about to expire.⛔️

Navigating these complex scenarios requires more than just knowing the rules; it demands a strategic approach honed by experience.

I’m proud that my expertise from handling similar cases came into play, allowing me to anticipate challenges and secure this positive outcome. I'm so happy for the client!🥳🎉 Alhamdulillah.

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of delivering my 10-minute business presentation to my fellow BNI Luton members!

My passion is helping small business owners thrive, and a core part of that is recognising that your staff are your biggest assets. I spoke about why effective HR is so important, and the potential pitfalls of not following best practices, ACAS guidance, or employment law.

My key message was this: it's so much easier and more effective to be prepared and proactive rather than reactive. Building a strong foundation from the start will save you time, money, and stress down the line.

It's always a pleasure to connect with members and visitor of and share how I help businesses achieve their full potential.

Huge thanks to Machines Solicitors for an incredibly insightful session today! We've just navigated some game-changing shifts in the Equality Act's definition of gender, and this directly impacts your hiring.

📃The Supreme Court's landmark ruling in For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish Ministers (handed down on April 16, 2025) has brought clarity: "s*x" under the Equality Act now refers to biological s*x assigned at birth.

⁉️So, what's the crucial takeaway for your recruitment?

👥 If you have roles that might seem gender-specific (like some in the care sector), the process just got much more complex. While the definition is clearer, NEVER ask for Gender Recognition Certificates (GRCs)! 🛑 This could unfortunately lead to serious harassment and discrimination claims for your business.
Navigating these nuances is vital.

✅️ As a small business, staying compliant isn't just good practice—it's essential to protect your operations. Seeking both HR and legal specialists' advice is key to making sure you're on the right side of the law and building a truly inclusive workplace.
Got questions on how this affects your hiring? Drop them in the comments or slide into my DMs! Let's ensure your business is fully compliant and thriving. 👇
