Polyurethane squeegee blades can be made in a range of shapes and sizes depending on what they’re being used for.

At Watts Urethane, we can cut the material to suit different applications, including blades with shaped edges, teeth and even cut-outs. These blades have been developed using a very intricate cutting method that we specialise in.

Polyurethane is particularly well suited to these applications because of its excellent abrasion and wear resistance, helping blades last longer even when they’re in regular use and we can work with you on the design to suit your need.

One of the things that makes polyurethane such a useful material is that we can manufacture it in different hardnesses depending on what the component is actually going to be used for.

Some applications need a degree of flexibility, while others need something much harder that can withstand constant wear and abrasion. It’s not simply a case of making a part to the right size, we also need to make sure the material is right for the job.

Something a little different from our Watts Urethane factory today.

These decorative bollards show just how versatile polyurethane can be. It can also be used to create detailed, traditional-looking products for very different applications.

Here you can see them during the finishing process and then with their final black finish applied.

A good example of how polyurethane can combine practical performance with a completely different aesthetic.

This tractor tyre had certainly done some work, but that didn’t mean the whole thing needed replacing. The original centre could still be reused so we stripped it back, prepared it for rebonding and applied new polyurethane before machining it to the required finish with hand cut treads to the customers specification.

The result is a tyre ready to go back into service, without replacing a component that still had useful life left in it.

How do you know a polyurethane component is going to perform as it should once it’s actually in use?

Testing is a big part of the development process here at Watts. Our on-site facilities allow us to assess materials and components against the conditions and demands they are likely to face in the real world, including mechanical, chemical and environmental testing.

It means we can look at performance before a product goes into full production, identify potential issues and make adjustments where needed.

And for wheels and tyres, we also have our own rolling road equipment, allowing us to test their dynamic properties as part of the development process.

The polyurethane material we use in our bridge plates has been developed for durability, while the surface provides excellent anti-slip performance including in wet conditions.

That combination makes it well suited to demanding highway applications where grip, strength and reliability all matter.

Every plate is manufactured and inspected here at Watts before it leaves the factory.

A recent investment in new equipment for squeegee production means we can now process more material, take on higher volumes and give customers greater flexibility when it comes to larger or repeat orders.

We’ve essentially doubled our cutting capacity, which means quicker turnaround on orders.
