As some will know, The National Lottery has been rolling out new terminals to all retailers over the last year or so. As part of this upgrade new play slips are being issued. From Thursday 22nd of January all old style slips will no longer be compatible with our terminal and new ones, provided in store from today, will need to be used.

We are unable to rewrite slips for you but before the 22nd deadline we will be able convert your old play slip into a FastPay ticket which can be used going forward. FastPay tickets are smaller than payslips and easily renewed.

As many will know, with every pound spent on the National Lottery a certain percentage (around 25%) goes to good causes.

Over the year, thanks to players in our store we’ve contributed approximately £68,748 to National Lottery good causes.

We have received a small allocation of Pokémon trading cards, including the latest release “Mega Evolution.”

As anyone that collects or has an interest in Pokémon cards will be aware there has been a nationwide shortage of stock. This is as a result of huge demand but also due to individuals (and organisations) bulk buying and re-selling, usually at a much higher price than RRP.

As a result of this, and in order to give everyone a fair chance, we are limiting customers to 4 packets of cards per transaction, per visit to store, across all games.

We continue to sell cards at the RRP of £3.99 per pack.

From 11pm on Saturday 2nd August, the next part of The National Lottery transformation will take place. Over Technical Switchover weekend, new terminal software will go live to support National Lottery core gaming and retail technology systems moving to new platforms.

Technical Switchover will start at 11pm on Saturday 2nd August, and National Lottery terminals will be down for approximately 36 hours to enable the new systems to go live. We will still be able to sell Scratchcards during this time although we will be unable to activate new stock, so whatever we have on display is all we will have until the switchover is complete.

We will be unable to sell any draw based games such as Lotto, Euromillions, Thunderball, Set For Life, Hotpicks etc. during the Technical Switchover period and we will also be unable to check or cash any tickets (draw based or Scratchcards).

We have finally received the 2024 Christmas on sale schedule for the TV listing magazines.

Please be aware that there may be multiple weeks issues on sale at any one time so make sure you get the correct one.

These dates are a guide and sometimes magazines can come in a day or two early or late. If you’re not sure, please ask.

If you have your regular weekly tv magazine saved with us all issues will be saved as usual.

Hello everyone, it’s been a while 🙄

We have late running papers this morning. As you can see from the attached image, Puma is running late. No, me either, not a clue what Puma is in relation to newspapers.

What I do know is that we are missing the Sun, Daily Mail, Telegraph, Times, the I Daily and possibly some other smaller titles.

A 1-2 hour delay, based on today’s time window, would put us somewhere around 7:30am to 8:30am.

An update has been provided by Smiths News although it isn’t really helpful.

A delay of one hour from the first estimated delivery time has already passed. If the delay is from the time of update we’re looking at 8:30-9:00am.
