What a lovely surprise to receive flowers, a generous gift voucher, and a thoughtful card from the SmartPA team—thank you so much!

Eight years ago, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life: leaving a secure, long-term corporate role to follow my dream of running my own business. I wanted to do what I love—help others get organised—and I’ve never looked back.

Discovering SmartPA was a major turning point. I’m incredibly grateful to the team who have supported me throughout my journey as a SmartPA Partner. Thanks to this incredible community, I now work alongside inspiring business owners and enjoy the freedom and work-life balance I always hoped for.

This flexibility has even given me the opportunity to launch a second venture as a Relaxation Therapist, combining my passion for holistic therapies with my love of supporting others.

One of the reasons that I love doing what I do, is knowing that I make a difference to the people that I work with. I launched my business with SmartPA 4 years ago and since then, I've learnt lots of new skills and have worked with and continue to work with some lovely, inspirational business owners.

I am blown away by the variety involved in what I do and sometimes I have to pinch myself when I think about what I have achieved.

Just some of the things I have been up to in the last month include:-

⭐️ Organising and attending The Hallmark Jewellers buying group's annual AGM and buying event.

⭐️ Setting up a client on a new appointment booking software system

⭐️ Setting up Trustpilot for a client

⭐️ Learning more about admin tools such as Survey Monkey, Microsoft Planner, Google Forms, LinkedIn Navigator

⭐️ Visiting a client at home for a planning meeting

⭐️ Visiting a client's showroom to discuss their social media
.. And I've also just had a meeting with a lovely new client who I hope to start to support from next month.

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has believed in me and supported me on my SmartPA journey :-)

Working from home or working from an office ? With the rise in remote working brought about by COVID, which do you prefer ? 🤔

Having had various conversations with different people, it is evident that some people are enjoying it and would rather not return to an office environment, whilst others can’t wait to get out of the house and to socially interact face to face with their colleagues and customers.

I worked from home for the first 12 months of my SmartPA journey but then decided to invest in an office and I have to say, I absolutely love it 😍

As well as being surrounded by friendly faces and like-minded business owners, who also have offices in the same building, I am able to really focus and get lots done. Then when it’s home time, I can shut down my laptop and switch off.

The beauty of SmartPA is that we have a choice of whether we work from home or work from an office. It’s great to see that this style of flexible working is now on the rise within other businesses too 😁

You know you care when you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep because your mind is busy thinking about what you can do tomorrow to help and support your clients. It’s a great trait to have but equally it’s important to build in time to switch off and to nurture yourself.

I have recognised in the last few week’s that my energy levels haven’t been as bouncy as usual and I’ve felt a little drained, so this week my focus is on myself and finding ways to re-charge.

I know that sometimes we can be our own worse enemy, putting ourselves under unnecessary pressure. I am certainly guilty of this. However, taking some time out to do the things that make you happy can help.

I hope you find some time for self- care too 😊

In my role as a SmartPA Partner, I was recently described as a ‘Superhero’. I have never thought of myself as a Superhero before but I guess to some of my clients, who are busy business owners, that’s how they see me.

I use my Super Powers to:-

POW! Project into the future, use my initiative and suggest ways of making processes and systems more streamlined and efficient.

ZOOM! Zap away time-consuming admin tasks, relieve them of unnecessary stress and allow them to be able to take time off.

SMASH! Support them if they have a wobble and need someone to talk to.

BOOM! Defend them from the evil admin gremlins and take the weight of admin overload off their shoulders.

Have you ever been inspired by a film ? I remember watching ‘Working Girl’ at the age of 16 and thinking that one day, I wanted to be just like Melanie Griffith (Tess), an ambitious secretary who climbs the ladder to success.

I am privileged enough to now be living that dream. I learnt so much from working in a successful family run business for over 20 years. It taught me all about the importance of working hard, building relationships, resilience, using my initiative and how to become business savvy. This was an excellent foundation that has now led me to go on to become a successful business owner.

I launched my business as a Partner 3 years ago and more recently, during lockdown, I worked on and launched an online shop, selling unique dog accessories - wooferley.com

It’s so important, especially with everything that is going on right now, to keep your dreams alive, think positive, step out of your comfort zone and above all else, 'believe in yourself'.
