At our Camden Tech 4 Reuse events last month, refurbished devices were distributed to a range of frontline organisations working across London to support people experiencing crisis, trauma, and social vulnerability to help strengthen the digital infrastructure behind essential community services.

Among those supported were The Salvation Army United Kingdom and Ireland Territory, The Living Centre, Queen's Crescent Community Association, and The Kindness Offensive.

The Salvation Army United Kingdom and Ireland Territory are using the refurbished laptops to support survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking by enabling access to online education, job applications, healthcare information, and essential services. They also help individuals stay connected with support workers, reducing isolation and supporting recovery and longer-term independence.

At The Living Centre, devices will support coordination across health, wellbeing, employment, and financial inclusion programmes.

Queen's Crescent Community Association will use the laptops to support Youth and Family Services, helping deliver one-to-one and group work with families and young people. They will enable access to schoolwork, online services, and external support, strengthening digital inclusion in one of Camden’s most deprived communities.

At The Kindness Offensive, devices will support the coordination of large-scale and everyday donation-led initiatives.

Across these organisations, digital access plays a vital role supporting everything from survivor recovery and counselling services to community wellbeing programmes, youth and family support, and large-scale coordination of donated goods and essential resources.

Behind every refurbished laptop we donate is an organisation choosing to do the right thing with its technology.

Today we’re shining a spotlight on Paxton Access Ltd whose commitment to environmental good is proving that responsible IT disposal and reuse can power positive change far beyond the workplace.

From the outset Paxton has been a valued corporate IT donor, providing a continuous stream of surplus devices from across their organisation. Their support has not only enabled us to extend the life of valuable technology but has also strengthened the collective impact we can make together.

Over the past 18 months, Paxton has generously donated 237 devices for reuse, making a meaningful contribution to both social impact and environmental stewardship. Their efforts have resulted in 25 tonnes of CO2e being prevented from landfill, a testament to the real change that happens when organisations prioritise responsible IT management and reuse.

We are proud to celebrate Paxton Access as a long standing IT donor partner whose actions exemplify the power of collaboration, shared values and collective environmental responsibility.

Access to reliable technology can open doors to opportunity, connection, and independence.

For charities supporting autistic and neurodivergent individuals, refurbished computers can make a meaningful difference in education, employment, and everyday life.

Through a series of IT donations, several organisations working within the neurodiversity space are gaining additional resources to strengthen the vital support they provide to their communities.

Neurodiversity in Business is dedicated to creating a world where neurodivergent people are not only included but genuinely enabled to thrive in work, in life, and in society.

Founded from a recognition of both the barriers neurodivergent people face and the extraordinary value they bring, the charity provides practical and sustainable solutions that bridge the gap between talent and opportunity. The donated laptop will enhance the charity’s capacity to support volunteers while strengthening educational and skills-development initiatives that help organisations build more inclusive workplaces.

London Autism Group Charity is an autistic-led organisation working to advance the mental health, wellbeing, and social inclusion of autistic people and their families across London.

The charity promotes autism acceptance while working to reduce stigma and discrimination, creating inclusive spaces where autistic people can connect, feel understood, and thrive.

The refurbished laptops donated will allow people to apply for jobs, complete online training, attend virtual interviews, and build confidence while navigating the job market in a more comfortable and accessible environment.

BeyondAutism works with autistic children and young people to access meaningful education, develop independence, and live fulfilling lives. Their approach is grounded in the belief that behaviour is communication, and they work closely with families to build understanding, confidence, and long-term outcomes.

Technology plays an important role in their work, helping young people engage with learning and develop alternative ways to communicate. The donated laptop will support learning sessions where technology is used to encourage engagement and self-expression.

Devices are also loaned to families to help maintain consistency between home and support settings, ensuring children can continue developing skills in familiar environments.

Each person in this photo represents a charity making a difference.

And they each left with refurbished tech to empower them do even more.

At our Tech 4 Reuse event in Camden held on 25th and 26th February we had the pleasure of supporting 10 local charities with refurbished laptops giving their teams the tools they need to keep doing the incredible work they do every day.

For us, refurbishing technology is about more than devices.

It’s about making sure surplus tech doesn’t sit unused or end up in landfill when it could be helping organisations deliver real impact.

Each laptop gets a second life.
Each charity gains more capacity.

In Camden we were proud to support:

Age UK Camden
Argyle Primary School
Camden African Network
Help on your Doorstep
Camden People First
Highgate Newtown Community Centre
Kentish Town Community Centre
Kids Club Kampala
NW5 Project
Third Age Project

It’s always inspiring meeting the people behind these organisations and seeing how the right technology helps charity causes extend their reach and strengthen their impact.

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of donating two refurbished Lifestations to Leicestershire & Rutland Rural Community Council and these smiles say it all.

RCC Leicestershire & Rutland does incredible work supporting people across rural Leicestershire and Rutland to build connections, tackle issues and grow their communities.

Each project has its own aims and objectives with the BUILD project supporting people over the age of 19 to explore volunteering, training, employment as well as setting up their own business. The charity go to where the people in need are, this may be because they don’t drive, have physical or mental health issues or learning difficulties.

These computers mean far more than simply having access to technology.

They mean independence.
They mean connection.
They mean opportunity.

From reducing social isolation to helping people access vital services online, RCC’s work makes a real difference to the local community.

Huge thank you to Emma Andrew for sharing this feedback with us.

What a truly special Tech 4 Reuse event in the wonderful city of Preston.

We were honoured to meet the 697th Mayor of Preston, Councillor Sue Whittam, joined by her nominated charity, the wonderful Sandbag Café, a community project established by the Lancashire Armed Forces Association created to meet a very real and urgent need.

Following the pandemic and the loss of similar services, concerns around loneliness and social isolation grew. In response, the café was launched in April 2024 at St George’s Church as a warm, safe and welcoming meeting point for veterans and their families.

Since opening its doors, the impact has been profound.

Veterans attending the café have spoken openly about how much this space means to them, a place to make friends, rebuild connections, share experiences and, for many, find a genuine lifeline.

At the event, Mayor Sue Whittam warmly introduced Theresa from The Sandbag Café, who attended to collect the laptop on behalf of the charity and represent the many veterans who benefit from its support. This donated equipment will make a meaningful difference enabling workshops, guest presentations and one-to-one digital support sessions.

We’re honoured to support a project that so beautifully reflects Preston’s history, heart and community spirit. Thank you to Mayor Sue Whittam for shining a light on this incredible cause, to Colonel (Retd) David Waters BEM for his leadership and dedication, and to everyone at The Sandbag Café for the compassionate, life-changing work you do every day.

In King’s Lynn, six local organisations were awarded freely donated, refurbished and upgraded computers.

Each organisation works with different people, at different stages of life, but all share a common challenge: delivering vital services in a world where digital access is no longer optional.

For Home-Start Norfolk, that challenge is about continuity. The charity recruits and trains volunteers with parenting experience to offer peer support to families with children aged 0–5, helping parents navigate some of the most formative years of family life. With limited IT resources, even a single fault can disrupt access to essential resources used by staff and volunteers. The donated laptop provides reassurance and support for families can continue uninterrupted.

At Kings Lynn Foodbank, demand has more than doubled over the past decade, driven by rising living costs, health challenges, debt, and benefit delays. Beyond emergency three-day food parcels, the foodbank works with 113 agencies and charities and hosts an in-house Citizens Advice adviser. Digital access underpins this coordination, helping people move from crisis support towards longer-term solutions.

Community connection looks different again at Marriott's Warehouse Trust, where a historic building has become a living hub for local groups. The Trust provides affordable meeting space, free public talks, and regular events that bring people together. Without digital equipment, promoting activities and supporting community groups has been a real barrier.

At Tapping House, teams support over 1,500 patients and 4,500 families every year through end-of-life care, bereavement support, and care for those with life-limiting illnesses. Here, digital access is critical. Online systems and shared health records help staff coordinate with other organisations and ensure patients receive the best possible care.

For Walking With The Wounded, the impact of digital access is deeply personal. Supporting military veterans with mental health, employment, and care coordination, the charity works nationally while delivering support locally through trusted networks.

Meanwhile, West Norfolk Deaf Association continues its mission to support people of all ages and all levels of hearing loss. Growing up in a hearing world can be challenging for young people and families, and the Association provides a wide range of practical and supportive services designed to help individuals live fulfilled lives. From groups and activities to events that reduce isolation, digital access supports communication, planning, and inclusion, helping ensure no one is left behind.

Together, these donations show how refurbished technology can strengthen the fabric of a community, not by replacing human connection, but by supporting it. 🧡
